I didn't see more than that 4 minutes, couldn't find it on bbc so had to go plan b.

Yes, very much feels like governing bodies are on the wrong side of history here. If we accept that there are protected categories (as we do for weight classes in various sports) then we accept some set of arbitrary rules that define these protected categories. The tricky thing is identifying which arbitrary categories to protect and I don’t have a coherent view on that and I’m not sure that there is any solution that won’t unfairly exclude some group of people. However, whatever the arbitrary categories are, the governing bodies must do more to ensure that their enforcement is conducted in a sensitive and humane way.

If there'd been a touch of wheels or a gap I bet he had Ganna is a goner up his sleeve.🤦♂️

Lol. Good luck with that.

Agreed.
I was not aware of the limit on athlete numbers.
I would presume that any contender for the IP,
which I always thought was the pinnacle of track cycling,
would be at the Olympics, anyway, for one of the other events,
the Team Pursuit at the very least. -

There's quite a few sharks around Japan. I'm not sure I'd be that comfortable in water that murky and warm. But I'm a wuss.

I don't think any of the BMX riders sat down during the competition.

Lavreysen is a monster

Incredible composure from Katy compared to that Danish tantrum. That must be incredibly frustrating.

Such bad luck.
Glad she is ok, appeared to have her fall cushioned by the Dutch rider, who looks in a bad way. -

She looked to be sort of safely surfing on Van Riessen's body indeed. Hope Laurine's OK

LFGSS Olympic Reform Proposal
Sack off Golf, anything with a horse, swimming that isn't front crawl, anything that is "dance-y" (synchro swimming/ ribbon twiddling)
Make football 5-a-side, but on a full pitch (like Rugby 7s)Add downhill MTB / or redbull rampage style hucking of a high object
Pennyfarthing racing (velodrome)Medal holders to wear their medals at any future entry to the event (E.G. Jason Kenny would have to wear his 2 Gold and 1 Silver individual sprint medals to all individual sprint races at this olymps)
-

To my untrained eye it looks like Kenny has lost quite a bit of his power but is still one of the best at being wily.
Against Dmitriev, who is also mid-30s and less powerful than he was, he didn't have the wiles advantage, and didn't have the power to take on Lavreysen.
Carlin looks awesome.

Enjoyed Van Schipp hanging off the back not making the catch so that he could Hoover up points.

anti swimming madness itt - keep all the swimming and gymnastics events imo. get rid of anything where the olympics isn't the pinnacle of the sport (except the road race and basketball) or make them amateur only (i.e. golf, tennis and football). get rid of any horse pish agreed

I thought we were demanding the return of the Individual Pursuit?
(I also have a very degraded memory of tandems racing in a velodrome)

Quite a dive by Carlin, very impressive control and nerve to have the German squeeze him slightly as he came up the inside.
Hate the way he pronounces Ganna.....Gaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnaaaaaaaaaaa
