I love table service at pubs. Waiting to get served at a bar used bug the shit out of me.

I used to work with a guy called Jim who was a natural at the bar. you could send him up to a crowded bar and he would always come back with a fistful of beers after being served really quickly.
My sister had a date once with a guy who waved a twenty at the bar (A: when people used cash and B: when £20 was a lot of money). Once he had the barman's attention he put the note away and paid with a fiver (C: when you could get two drinks for a Lady Godiva).

When I worked behind a bar people waving notes went to the back of the queue in my head.

Nah, being told to sit down and wait really bugged me. I avoid crowded bars anyway. I really missed being able to talk to staff, however briefly, and look at what's on tap

Leads nicely on to the even more annoying trend of only being able to order a pint on your phone. Fuck that.
A few times now couldn't have a pint because I didn't take my phone to the pub. -

Lucky you didn’t make it to The Herne last night Will 5 minutes of fat fingers typing in my full name and address on a tiny iPhone5

I welcome that 100% and hope it’s here to stay.

Best thing that Wetherspoons ever did imho (assuming they were the first). Ordering a pint without having to speak to somebody and do small talk and having it delivered to your table? Yes please!

Tactically avoiding getting pinged?
