Do the Australians get another go then?
-

Apparantly, in the qualifying if you act within a lap after the crash, you can have a restart.

Oof, getting back on a bike with those bars again takes some mental fortitude.

I'm forced to watch the bloody horse jumping. The horses aren't even from the countries they are representing.

Anyone have a video of the Australia crash?

Former pro and head of Danish Cycling, Jesper Worre, analysed their effort and concluded that their start was a bit off and three of the guys took too short stints at the front. Probably why they only set an Olympic record and not a new World record...

Ouch, that's a bit of skin lost!

That look back, then the gap, would be a great move at the end of a scratch race.
If they can dial back the opening pace a tiny fraction (easily said) they should be able to keep it together, fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Their start was insanely fast, perhaps too fast indeed as they lost quite some time in the final lap.
Few of the other teams fucked up quite badly so there some contrast in there.
Look forward to the final, would be awesome if they break the wr once again. -

What are these new rules the commentators keep referencing but not explaining about runners dropping down from 400m to 200m?
-
• #846
Maybe something to do with this? Not running the 400 as testosterone is too high but running in 200.

DSD rules; Differences of Sexual Development. As I understand it, the two Namibian athletes have higher than normal levels of testosterone and for reasons that are beyond me, have been moved to the 200 metres rather than running the 400 metres.

That'll be it thank you - seems a bit odd but I guess that's the current state of competitive sport!

It has been posited that the 'endurance sprint' events (400/800/1500) are those in which the advantage is most pronounced so the ban only applies there. It's a mess, obviously.

That's quite something. Although it didn't look broken. Could be failure of the bolts or just not assembled properly after the flight to Tokyo. Should have shown in the training though...
Ethan Hayter riding everyone off his wheel in a TP. We've all been there...
