  • Had a tip that if you weren't able to maximize your ISA allowance in one year but had some shares in a general investment account, you can transfer up to the ISA limit of them into an ISA.

    Has anyone done this?

I sold some shares to help with a deposit so have used all my CGT allowance for this year and don't really have spare cash to invest. Would doing that work without incurring any CGT liability? Not sure if that is a question for an account or someone like AJ Bell.

    Cheers

  • You can't transfer shares from outside an ISA into an ISA. You could sell them and repurchase inside, obviously incurring the return trip costs.
