This was the biggest I ever uploaded, frankly.
Yet it kept the original file (filesize stayed exactly the same after upload), which was a big plus as there was no loss in image quality as with the other platforms.
I was quite happy with that 🙂In tumblr's "edit theme" settings (sometimes "advanced settings") there used to be a "large images" option with some themes - can't remember the (free) one I used back then but now they are either dead and / or not free anymore, like https://highrestheme.tumblr.com
Yeah, I was just re-activating one of my tumblrs (sort-of a community-foto pool) and realized the theme wasn't working like it used to (years ago, to be fair) - googled a lot to fix the issues and realized that support / developement has basically died meanwhile -
so I do agree it seems that it won't be around for much longer.
Looking at it from another angle it seems that quite a few people are still using it - for what it is: a blog that is suitable for displaying photos chronologically (tumblr not compressing images if you manage to get the "hi-res" options right makes it unique).
I suppose it will die anyway due to lack of users and I got no clue what will replace it down the line.
