It's lubed up and there's a nylon insert, it's all good. That bike is for sale actually if you want to try it out for yourself!

I meant the brake cable housing on the left but now that you mention it, would it be possible to bend the angle slightly on the guide pipe to get the cable running straight out?

Good bodging either way if it's working well!
