  • I probably would have found it easier to decode if the rough trade cookies bs had allowed me to access the page. Thanks for the cat no. I will check it out with my supplier.

  • I'll pm you tomorrow as I could be interested. I'm in SE25 so probably local enough to you to collect.

  • So, met up with my mate last night and gave him his birthday present - the new pressing of Spiritualized's Pure Phase (been out of print for about 25 years, glow in the dark vinyl) - 5 minutes later none other than Jason Spaceman himself walks past the pub. We run out, I borrow a sharpie from the beautician next door so he can sign it for my mate, and Jase chats music and gigs for a while - lovely guy.

  • Great story! He is a lovely chap, I spent an afternoon back in the early 90s in Rugby with him (and Kate and the rest of the Spacemen 3 minus Pete) playing pool... IIRC I got seven balled, bit embarrassing, oh, how we laughed...

  • That's brilliant

  • I was wondering if original printer inners ('60-70s period) have much value in general... I have got quite a few, including one of the Rolling Stones' LET IT BLEED. Any idea?

  • You have just the inners?

  • Yes :)

    (will add a picture)

  • elvinyl might be the kind of site that has that kind of thing.:-

    https://www.elvinyl.com/

  • guess what idiot left a vinyl in front of a south facing window, housed under a perspex platter

just thankful it was a shiter and not something beloved

  • Yikes, years ago when living at home my Mum decided to move a stack of my vinyl and lean it all against a radiator - unfortunately I was away on holiday and came home to a warped pile of mess.

I'll remind her of this when she wants me to care for her in her advanced years.

  • My win of the month was picking up a copy of 3 Feet High and Rising for 4 quid at a Hilly Fields Fair last weekend. I felt like I mugged the fella, but consoled myself with the fact he probably lives in one of the million pound houses over the road.

  • The one and only time I ever lent any of my vinyl to anyone was to one of my mates years ago.

He left my (import) Tim Dog album on the parcel shelf of his Golf and it warped badly. He then tried to iron it flat.

I am still not over it.

  • Anyone had any dealings with Vinyl Pimp in Hackney Wick?

I added something to my basket on Discogs from the seller and noticed it said I can elect to collect from them. I also noticed that they have a lot of stuff on my wants list and a large inventory.

It doesn’t seem like a standard shop you can go to and browse though, unless I’m wrong. More like a pick up point for a warehouse where they are storing people’s collections who they are selling on behalf of, or something.

I guess I will trawl through their stock and buy stuff to pick up, but it’s not the same as digging IRL. Plus you spend enough and get free shipping anyway.

  • He then tried to iron it flat.

Utterly amazing, what could possibly go wrong?

  • No, but he keeps popping up with items on my want list as well!

  • Yea - what a bellend!

  • Happened to me. Absolutely gutted, it was one of my favourite 45's. Original copy of this, warped beyond the beyond....

  • Fuck, what a shitter!!

  • They do store collections of the kind of people who have a lot of vinyl they don't want any more. Industry types and DJ's were selling through them in the beginning. I tried to sell them a load but when they realised I had a complete list of the items and knew the values they weren't interested. In fairness they don't want collections that have had the best cherry picked from them.

  • Yup! It's like a crimped taco

  • My mate has just asked one of these companies in Bath to look at his collection (1000+). I have a feeling he has some real gems in his collection (mainly house from late '80 onwards). It will be interesting what they offer him, I have warned him to be wary.

  • Problem is, stripping those out is so time consuming and you have quality to consider as most good records from that era got played a lot. You can find no end of near mint records that no one wants to buy!

Collection prices for '80's '90's 12" are very low too you're right to warn him. UK Garage sells very well though.

  • I picked up a 'Vinyl Flat' thing with heated pouch for flattening warped disks. It works if you have the balls to let it sit for quite a few hours heated. I've had success on some 7" that I was prepared to lose. It's also rendered one or 2 lightly warped 12" flat and one really bad one but that took months of short hot sessions and cold pressing. It was a rare one so I'm happy it came good in the long run.

I wouldn't pay to import one but they do come up second hand and they're useful in some situations.
