  • Yes, I have been using the hg700 cassettes on both my road and gravel bikes, with the spacer. It's also printed on the box. Left is the hg700, right is the m7000 I'm trying to use.

  • Ok, so they've built it the same as their MTB cassettes (this is a new one to catch me out should I ever buy a "small" cassette again. Should still only need one spacer unless you have a weird freehub. You've still not mentioned the freehub though have you?

    Another possibility is that the cassette has caught a burr on the freehub and isn't sliding on fully, as it's not straight but on an angle against the burr. Yes, I've also done this. :S

    Or, have you managed to lose a middle spacer or put the cassette pieces on in the wrong order. Yes, I've also done this before.

    If your wheel is stupid (I'm looking at your Mavic) you might need an extra spacer. Yes, I've had this issue before too.
