Pretty much my view too.
Caveat on the last point, I get that it's the job of the media to push these things to get people's eyes on the sport and keep the money rolling in, but the constant pushing personal rivalries thing gets pretty tedious. Combined with Netflix fabricating narratives to draw people in, and it feels like it's slipping more and more towards Eastenders at 200mph.
I'm very much looking forward to seeing how the season develops, as I was sure it was going to be a Red Bull runaway until this weekend. It's a shame we've got a snore-fest up next with the summer break afterwards. Roll on Spa-Zandvoort-Monza!

My take is like others - Hamilton has been showing respect in the corners - knowing it's a long season hoping points accumulation may have been enough.
Clearly - that strategy was not working, so it was time to race harder -it was time to sow that seed of doubt in Max's mind that he wasn't going to be pulling out of 50:50 moves in the future.
Was it the best corner to make this point - clearly not - but it's not like he knew he could wait another half lap and make that point somewhere else. He was genuinely up the inside here. Hamilton will have said to himself before the race - If I'm in this type of situation I'm all-in. In racing terms there were four possible outcomes - three of which are ok for Hamilton. He sticks it down the inside and:
If they both get taken out, we just role on to the next race with no change in standings- and Hamilton will still have made his point for the next 50:50 corner.
With the positioning at that turn, I'd say point 4 was the least likely too. In terms of overall odds across the options - it was stacked in Hamilton's favour .
The most important thing is that Max is safe and well, but to the spectator things have just got 100 times better. There is some real edge to this match up now. The next 50:50 corner will be very interesting! You love to see it.
