No, usually just online stores. China for the bulk of it, Japan for the rarer stuff.
Still a few UK based shops doing well, Modelsport being the "biggest", oh, and Tony's Tamiya Parts on eBay, Tony is awesome for just about everything. -

There's loads of online UK modelshops.
I prefer UK stock as don't want to wait around or pay duty.
U can even filter by UK on ebay...

I was hoping there might be some kind of old, physical shop that one can walk into and window shop. Like the old accordion place in Lee.

I remember buying racing batteries and speed controllers from some bloke’s flat in a towerblock in Edmonton. He had turned his front room in to a shop of sorts.
Probably sold all sorts but I was way too young at the time to notice.

Agree there is nothing quite like an emporium of Tamiya box art.
My youth was on the South Coast. We had Beatties in Brighton and the mighty SMC. (Still going AFAIK)

We had Beatties in Bristol as well. I had one of their blue bags for transporting my car around.

I broke my thing - was ragging the sandviper across some gravel at my mates workshop and got a bit overenthusiastic LOL! Left front took a heavy impact with a metal fence post shearing off the front C hub :(
Can't decide to buy aluminium replacements of standard plastic.

Looking at a new build for road thrashing, likely a TT02.
Kit I am looking at comes with a brushed 540 can and no ESC.
Does anyone have a spare Tamiya TBLE-02s in their parts bin they want to throw my way?or my (preferred) alternative is to relegate the brushed motor and go for a brushless setup.
Is a 3500kV motor considered fast? (I know there are other factors, but broad strokes*)
Would likely be run on 6 cell NiMh, until I get 2s LiPo at some point in the future.*seen reasonably priced bundles on ESC + motor and the options are 2700, 3100 or 3500kv and a 45a ESC

No ESC soz. Keep cooking them.
The difference between Li Mh and Li Po is crazy.
My 8T brushed will run on the Ni Mh and accelerate gradually to top speed. Not over heating.
On the Li Po it goes mental from the off and over heats with a shut off after about 3 mins.

Lipo all looks a bit stressful to me - they seem kind of dangerous to just leave for months (I don't run my car very often) on their own in the shed. Is there any truth to that?
I'm tempted to stick an exciting motor / esc in my dark impact. It's currently got a Tamiya sports tuned, but not sure that that's significantly different to a normal 540. I've no idea what I should be looking for - @DethBeard what packages were you looking at?

likely an XV01.
Correct answer!

I put one of those cheapo GoolRC combos from eBay in my TRF201 - it's quick enough for me with LiPo. Sacrilege, granted.
I have a TBLE02s + 10.5 TBLM in my Durga - this is like shit off a shovel even with the crappy TBLE.
Can't run it in the height of summer as the TBLE02 thermals :)

This is the same chassis as your terrascorcher on 2s with a 12T ? brushed.
I think that is about as much as it could handle...
Egress or equiv could prob take a brushless system. Not sure on Dark Impact running gear...
Re. Batt storage. I think u just need to keep lipo with charge.
