I've had a soft spot for the Omega gauss one for a while; why does it have it a lower RRP than a standard Aqua Terra? Is it because it is not Master Chronometer certified?
Any reason to buy the gauss one over a standard one? Aren't they all stated to have the same anti-magnetic resistance?

Was just rifling through a box of random salvaged electronic components and removed my hand to find a chunky rare earth magnet stuck to my Skx007. This should be interesting!
Recently I found a RE magnet stuck to a hardrive... GF had dumped it into my randoms drawer. SELAVY (Ce La vie)

So 3 month old speedmaster doesnt hold power, stops after 12-14 hours.. will monitor during the weekend and sent it to the local AD on Monday. Any idea what might cause this?

It’s based on the previous AT model (date at 3, vertical stripes on the dial), and as you say not METAS certified as far as I can tell. Part of the METAS / master chronometer spec is resistance to magnetism so yeah, all the newer AT models have the same >15,000 gauss spec as that model.

Are you definitely winding it fully, until you feel the limit?
If so then it’s a service job. I read that there was an issue with some 3861s early on that they fixed with a revised part but I can’t remember exactly what it was - I need to have a dig.

Amazingly my 007 hasn't lost or gained a noticeable amount of time overnight.

Looks like my first trip to a different timezone for 19 months is cancelled but I thought I’d give my only remaining GMT some love anyway.

Really love the aesthetics apart from the GMT hand being as long as the minute hand! Surely should be same length as hour hand?

Think it works quite nicely for legibility - tracks with the 2nd time zone markers. I don't hate it.

I think it looks really good.

GMT hand is the right length. Minute hand is too long.
Still a banger though.

OT: Do you find the 'chin' on the screen to be as distressing as so many tech reviewers/'influencers' did?
The Prospex watches generally have a reasonably antimagnetic spec, but not impervious, as you’ve found out yourself. But I doubt the SKX would have any real protection, and it certainly doesn’t have a silicon balance spring (or nivarox or whatever).
Tl;dr: that be fucked then.
