I've only broken two in my life
yet you abandoned them for Pinion and a Rohloff
-
• #328
have seen many more die mid-ride on other people's bikes
-
• #329
Yh they're pro mechanic sets. More interested in some of the individual tools.

Ahem, all hail the single speed

That was my solution for a few years, but then age, injury and fatness caught up with me

How long until ebike? ..or do you have one already
-
• #334
Already have one!
-
• #335
That's it. You're now banned from those rides that no longer happen
-
• #336
I don't suppose you have a list/spreadsheet of everything you have in here? I'm trying to put together something similar to easily chuck in the car for bike park days.

Just chuck Dammit in the boot

My brakes are Sram so I don't need to carry around all that magura knowledge

One of the reasons to go with a conventional tool-box format was 1. the handle and 2. the ability to put stuff in there like the shop-towel, which always comes in handy.

Thanks, much appreciated, I doubt mine will be quite that extensive but gives me a good place to start!

It's very useful to be able to read the tool list that accompanies the photographs.

Yeah no. I've spent time in the pro circuit.
- No one uses bling tools. Tools are tools.
- Tools are rarely organized as such, they're also nowhere near as spotless. Mallet without a scratch? Tools with zero grease marks? Swisstools with clean paint? straight fucking picks?
- A lot of that is overkill. So many sockets and ratchets, even for suspension.
- Not a single bleed or bearing solution to be proud of? Hmm.
This is tools by credit card.

Yeah no
This is tools by credit cardLet's start with - This is the tools porn thread.
Admittedly, that set is ripped straight from Tool Box Wars (if you hadn't noticed) so not exactly the kit of a mech who wrenches for pros (or maybe so, I don't know, so ya got me there)
But it is a good page to see actually nice tool sets being used by actual mechanics that wrench for professional racing cyclists.

By all means I'm not suggesting most mechanics in the pro circuit are using this bling. It's just, this is the bling tools thread on a bike forum.

I like Wera as much as the next guy, but jeez, they should try other stuff!

Ya know, I was just thinking, green is my fav colour, but visually something about Abbey and Wera don't float ma boat somehow. Can't put a finger on it
-
• #348
For example, this one isn't doing it for me.
But I would love a mostly green set.

I used green foam because of the Festool logo on the box.

Park Tools but the blue was already taken.
Abbey's cassette tool is better for not being green. Trufax. Also, two hammers and two chain tools? Dafuq are they working on? Oh shit, is my 20 year old chain tool not going to work on 12spd?
My socket set is in a different place to my big toolbox because it's used so infrequently.
