Got 1st dose at 10 this morning, Pfizer, arms at little achey, have a background level headache (that may be the late night and up early to ride though), was in and out in 15mins.
Boris needs to give em a decent pay rise, 1% fuck off, I'll pay an extra few quid on my NI contributions no problem. -
• #878
In lieu of a better pay rise you can take gift cards for the staff at the vaccine clinics...
-
• #879
are they allowed to accept them?
-
• #880
They didn't try to decline it either time I did it.
I made it clear it was for everyone there, so I hope they use them to buy things for the entire team not just the individuals that did the admin/stabbing on me.

Do you talk about yourself in the third person now?
Ha ha. What can I say? Have spent a lot of time with myself recently...
-
• #882
Mostly.
Gifts have to be declared if value is over £50 and you should not accept them if it could possibly be perceived that the gift might influence your professional judgement. In most cases, small gifts for nurses are fine.
The Trust I worked for had a no gifts >£50 policy for people at band 9 and above.

This may already have been posted, so apologies if repost, but apparently the latest wheeze in Germany is now to mix AZ and BioNTech vaccines (the article below also adds the Moderna vaccine, which I hadn't heard). It's supposed to increase protection over staying with just one vaccine and may be introduced in the UK in a possible booster programme.

Here, Spain, people with az first are now getting Pfizer 2nd.
-
• #885
Really, that's interesting... How does that even work? I'm due for my second AZ in a couple of weeks...
-
• #886
Both vaccines generate an immune response against the S(pike) protein- they just use different means of getting there.
As to increased efficacy/ reduced SE profile- its a bit of a mixed bag of results but AZ then Pf looked promising from Com-Cov (and other) study.(technically SE slight increased in Com-Cov but less evident elsewhere)

24 hours since 2nd Pfizer jab, arm waaaay more sore this time round. Felt quite ropey yesterday evening and had a very restless night, may have been running a slight temperature. Other than the sore arm and being a little tired, feel ok now.

I got a text saying I could get jabbed at a walkin clinic near me.
Anyone know if this is generic or if they know I've already had my first dose and could get second one sooner? I don't want to head out only to find they're only doing first doses or something. -
• #889
Lol it's the NHS.
I got texts to book my jabs the day after booking my jabs
-
• #890
When I got my invite it specified the type of vaccine I can get.
7 days after second Phizer shot and still have the flu symptoms.
-
• #891
It's pretty vague
"You are eligible for a COVID-19 vaccination and can join the millions who have already received it."

Ouch, that's pretty rough. fingers crossed you shake it off soon.

Pop up walk in Pfizer centre behind the Hackney Town Hall. Minimum 5 weeks between doses if it’s your second.
I got the last dose, but they’re off to Homerton for a re-up. Minimal queues.

I got a text a couple of days ago from "NHS SWLDN" saying:-
"
SWL Call & Recall Team Mass text Service: Get vaccinated this week: https://swlondonccg.nhs.uk/covid/where-can-you-get-vaccinated/vaccination-walk-in-clinics/
"However I had my second jab two weeks ago.
(Spotting ccg in the URL and I think I'm getting this as I'm part of the NHS South West London CCG's People's Panel.)
My guess is that many of the texts are now mass spams and if you did go you'd get weeded out if it was too soon when you tried to register at the walk in clinic.

Anyone aware of any walk-in accepting 3+ weeks since v1?
-
• #896
Nope but I'm interested.
I want to get my 2nd jab sooner rather than later so I can get into Spain without $100 burned on a bullshit test. Southall has a walk-in centre.

This one worked last week: https://old.reddit.com/r/GetJabbed/comments/ogqrql/swanley_vaccination_centre_vaccinating_at_21_days/
Generally that subreddit might be useful.

2nd Pfizer jabs can be booked if you had yours 8 weeks ago at the Tate Modern on Friday 5pm -9pm.
-
• #899
Had 2nd Pfizer dose on Friday.
1st jab I went quite dizzy and it lasted just over 24 hours, arm ached for maybe 3 days
2nd jab, got a stiff neck and shoulder fior the evening, achy arm all weekend.
No other unwanted side effects, glad to be double dosed now

Southall is a bust. They're saying 8 weeks before 2nd jab.
Anyone know any London walk-in centres that will do my 2nd Covid jab sooner than 6-8 weeks?
As one should.
