Hi as a new return collector of vinyl i was hoping for some advice, my musical tastes are generally not fashionable so buying up back catalogues on LP has not been too expensive for some of my fav bands as theyre laughed at (Yes/ELP/Genesis) these days
However Im finding Pearl Jam a tough one, i need two LPs to complete the studio LPS but they seem to go for quite a bit of money. Are reprints common for current bands so do I sit and wait or bite the bullet and pay through the nose for the two I want (No Code 1996 and Backspacer 2009) ?

Maybe there is an indie equivalent of https://www.tuffkongrecords.com/
It is not my genre of choice but I imagine if the demand is there someone may be doing it.

I think this has been discussed before, what is the preferred choice for record sleeve inners/liners? I want to protect some of my cherished vinyl from sleeve scratches.

I would say the trend is that everything is getting repressed. 1996-2008 is probably when major label rock music LPs were pressed in the smallest numbers, but i'm sure an artist like pearl jam would sell the represses at some point.

I use these guys :-
The deliver quickly. They don't have 7" or 10" japanese inners though.

Thanks - I have ordered some 12" polylined inners

I've started using Nagaoka anti-static liners. Seem to do the job.

They're nice and I started on them a couple of thousand ago but they are quite a bit more expensive and not that different. It's worth keeping the packaging they come in though as it makes any others you order easier to store.

I really like those, have got through quite a few in black or white but there are times I need liners for inners that belong with the sleeve and it's cheaper if you are doing a lot to use the existing inner and add a liner.

Well if you ever feel like letting go of Mala - Left Leg Out / Blue Notez let me know!

No chance!!! Have a copy of Alicia as well.

They turned up today and look really nice. A quick question - do you replace the originals completely? I am not sure if I should just discard the original or try to put it back in the sleeve. I am mindful that it is no longer an original if I discard them, but the sleeves seem too tight to accommodate both sleeves!

Did you get liners or inners. They do a japanese style liner which has a curved bottom, I've found they fit in pretty much any inner I've had to deal with. If you've got paper inners with a liner fixed in them then you do discard the original, or keep it in the sleeve to preserve originality.

Thanks, I think I have the inners with liner fixed in.

I have been putting some of my records into inners tonight, here are the DMZ plates:
Turns out I actually have 2 copies of Left Leg Out (but don't think I can bring myself to sell one!)

Well if you ever decide to sell that extra copy please let me know.

So cruel... :)

Bit OT, but I'm considering getting some of my records up on the wall as display/art (or just to keep new ones on for easy access). Does anyone do this without it being a bit naff?
I'm currently thinking about getting some moulded beading and making shelves

I have the first 3 Metallica album picture discs mounted in a frame - think it is probably seen as a bit naff, but fuck it, it's your wall.
-
• #1196
Shit, is it naff? I have 16 covers in frames above the fireplace :) I seriously don't give a f**k about other peoples opinions of my listening room though!
I use the white 'show and listen' ones. It took a decent amount of time to space and hang them with perfect gaps though.

I have just had permission from my wife to put some vinyl up on the stair's wall. Trying to decide what to go up (and I will probably try to buy a second copy so I can still listen to the original).
U-Roy Dread in a Babylon has to be one, was thinking of BDP Ghetto Music for another.

I'm loving the not giving a fuck attitude! The naff was from the gf who suggested it might look a bit student-y. If it was up to me the place would probably already look a bit too much like a record store (really like the peg-board system they've got at Dreamhouse in Leyton).
Wish I had a dedicated listening room, but at the moment they're in the living room so things need to be negotiated...
Might get something up with command strips and see what the response is like

This is also going up!
Art is art, if you think a record cover is art then it is. For me it has an extra dimension (the music) not everyone understands that, but if you do, then it is a masterpiece.
Fuck 'em
Yeah - quite a few things.
No issues yet but they’ve usually been individual purchases so nowhere near the fee threshold.
