  • On a more serious note than the Pajero Evo, what about a Skoda Yeti or Octavia Scout as you mentioned?

  • I'd say yeti. It is a little van.

  • Good call on the Skoda Octavia Scout. A great many of these are used by the ambulance service as paramedics' cars and seem to go on forever.

  • Both quite rare and nothing available auto. The 4x4 estate is a good idea though, just not as common here.

  • I still have a slight pang of regret for not at least going to have a look at a wicked brown octavia 4x4. Lo and behold, there’s even a piston heads article about the very one I was looking at.

In the words of Marge Simpson - I just think they’re neat!

  • Where is “here”?

  • Girona, catalunya

  • I'd look at whatever the local postie drives and manages to get up to every house and get one of those

  • Well stop the bloody bus. Get yourself an old Panda 4x4, see way more of them on the continent. The raddest of rad (admittedly maybe not that practical on the motorway or for carrying any amount of load).

  • Was there a Marbella version of the 4x4?

  • Actually a seat fura -4 door fiat 127.

No auto but I'd like one.

  • They're actually quite expensive! I did look

  • Did you miss my video?

  • Master of understatement. The sisleys really go for a premium.

  • 2015 Ford Fiesta with flat battery. Battery was fitted new less than a year ago but has sat idle since it was fitted due to the owner being in hospital.

Given that its a new battery than has sat idle for 8ish months I'm going to give charging it a go. No outside power access so will have to remove battery and take indoors.

If I remove the battery, will the alarm go off?

  • Could you park another car next to it and use jump leads as umbilical cords while you charge the battery indoors. Probably not practical but...

  • Good suggestion, and the thought crossed my mind, but just not practical I'm afraid. Thanks anyway though.

The owners manual is so useless on the subject that it has genuinely made me angry. Under the section entitled "changing the battery" it says "if your car has start/stop, you must replace the battery with an identical model". That's it ffffs!

  • Depends if alarm has back up battery. But if sat no power left.

Got a multimeter as battery might have failed as it has been discharged for a long time.

  • Where is the car, would you like a hand?

  • We have a Passat Alltrack, it's good but wasn't a cheap car to buy.

There are heaps of H6 auto Outbacks in the world though for sensible money.

  • You are right, the forester is the right call, just to find one! Only one for sale in whole country.
People keep cars a lot longer here, and young people lease new stuff so there is a serious lack of supply.

  • Does it have to be a Spanish car? You have an entire continent of LHD vehicles to choose from, admittedly with a fairly lengthy drive home for some of them- but still, plenty of places with mountains to look at.

  • Yeah importing isn't so easy and I don't want that hassle.

  • Interesting, I'd have thought that within the single market it'd be extremely simple.
