Pasela

Will they feel slower than the GP4S? I’ve only ever really ridden gatorskins, marathons and these 4 seasons - and they all felt wildly different, which makes me wonder if I could be making a much better choice.

Is 25 the largest your frame can take?
-
• #8555
Nah, got loads of space. Maybe up to 32ish.

Pasela's will definitely ride nicer than the tyres you listed, but I didn't love them for long road rides just as I felt like there were faster choices. With that said, I've done a couple of 300km audaxes on Pasela's and they were fast enough. Though, given the most recent ride I've had on Pirelli P Zero Velo's, I'd keep an eye out for those too. Comfy, insanely grippy and very very fast. Or GP5000s, Turbo Cottons, Corsa's etc but those are all quite expensive. Some of the more road orientated Gravel Kings might be good too - I believe there is a slick in the 28c range.

I’d go up to 28’s for comfort/rolling resistance.
GP5000’s might be an obvious choice but they are quick. Only got ~1000k on a set so too early to remark on puncture protection but no issues so far

Obviously I want comfort, low rolling resistance, puncture protection and good grip.
You forgot 'cheap'...

I'm not a complete fantasist!

That would involve adding 'lasts for ever'. Anyway, my vote would be G-One Speeds in 30mm size. It's what I'll be using for the 300 on Saturday.
They're actually S-Ones, but I think they're the same as the current G-One Speeds. Hope so, as I've bought G-One Speeds to replace them.

Just riffing on the conversation, though they are very good, not the quickest of course.

Tubes or notubes?
Personally I’d go for 28-30 mm for that kind of use. With tubes Michelin Power Endurance is good.
There are lots of faster options for summer/speed/thefeels

Tubes!

I plumped for G One Speed 35c for my long distance lightish weight touring thingmy jig. Idea is 95% road but will handle some light gravel work if needs be. Yet to use 'em tho.
If its good enough for that Jonas Deichman lad...

I ran G One Allround with tubes and … whilst they were good to ride they had next to no puncture protection. The tubeless version is probably great.
-
• #8567
Is that the G One Speed Superground?
I believe thats the newer and more durable version. Not the ones I have yet but that was the plan in the new year.
-
• #8568
No, older version of the Speeds. I think they were <£30 ea from Merlin, which probably explains why!

There was a great deal on GP5K’s on here recently & not sure if it’s still running but they’re currently down to £35 a tyre on sportpursuit. Tubed 25/28’s

I'd go with michelin power if only because I had good experiences with their tires and the prices are reasonable compared with others.
-
• #8571
Michelin Pro4 Endurance if you can find them.
I also had a great summer riding with a set of those cheap Jack Brown Mile Munchers off Planet X. Replaced them after 7000km with only one visitation from the puncture fairy (a drawing pin, no less!) but unfortunately the following set seemed to be a puncture magnet. Given how cheap they are I'd be tempted to try them again, though.

Where did you get that? I could do with less sweating and swearing bullets in my life

OoS rn unfortunately

Like everything in life
I’m riding 25c GP4 seasons. If I want to do longer road rides/audax, is there a better choice. Obviously I want comfort, low rolling resistance, puncture protection and good grip. But obviously that’s not the most realistic thing to ask for.
What’s the usual choice for these things?
