Demare out today reminds he held by a car sufficiently in 2018 when there was no grupetto, Zabel, Greipel (and others?) over cut and out.

That was the same day that Cavendish came in over the time cut.

Sad to see Coquard and Demare out, Demare got a fourth but I'm not sure Coquard has even got a top 10.

Aside from fans' favourite Bouhanni it's not a good year for French sprinters.

Has their ever been a previous tour winner end the race as lantern rouge ?

Geraint Thomas has won the Tour, and finished second last, on his debut in 2007.

I believe that is the closest anyone has ever got to winning it and finishing last.
