Not sure about the race being dull. The first week alone has been better than ten years of the sky train.

Dunno but the look back to Carapaz today before properly dropping him reminded me of that look back to Ullrich.

Careful, I remember that name having particular connotations when mentioned in reference to an astonishing comeback in a recent edition of the Giro.

Then again, I can only imagine the current state of French Twitter ce moment.

true, and I suppose individual stage might be interesting. But I for one would rather like seeing the big favourites and their teams battling it out for another week or so at least. The thought if JV trying to defend 2nd and Ineos trying to get Carapaz into 3rd just isn't as interesting as watching them battle it out for yellow. I mean, the classics are great for one day races, but generally you watch grand tours for a different experience don't you? I always rather liked the tactical battles, it's part of it...(or it was!)

Boardman just said that it's the whole of the main bunch are going to be right on the cusp of the time limit.

If they don't make it in time they'll be allowed to stay in (because they can't drop ~100 riders in one go), however there was mention of rules that say that riders that were official outside the time limit will lose their points, so Cav would stay in the race but wouldn't be in Green, etc.

We'll see in about 7 minutes...

At the cut off there were 82 riders still racing according to the letour.fr site.

Big grupetto coming to the finish with Roglič, Thomas, Cavendish etc. 35mins down, all safely inside the time cut

Cav made it...

66 riders still racing (~3m after the cutoff). No idea of the names of any as the site doesn't list any of the riders, so no idea if ARE CAV made it or not.

I’d be curious to know largest number ever sent home in one go
