  • On the Kessels fork crown, that is a set of dividers like a draftsman would use.
Builders he used, from an old interview with Merckx himself:
    1965-Superia stock
    1966- Peugeot stock
1967- Peugeot stock then rebranded Masi
    1968- Masi
    1969- Marcel ven der Este
    1970- Guiseppe Pela
    1971- Kessels and Colnago
    1972-Kessels and Colnago
    1973- Kessels and Colnago
    1974-Kessels and De Rosa
    1975-Kessels and De Rosa
    1976-Kessels and De Rosa
    1977-De Rosa
    1978-Kessels and De Rosa
Some Kessels are almost identical to De Rosa, only the diamond chainstays differ.

  • haha youre right. Smiling all the way, even though when I dropped from the group ride :p.

And yes, tanwall it is for the next set of tyres. The challenge is to find a good one in my country, the gp5000 tanwall is perfect but really expensive.

  • From here: https://vintagevelocollective.com/eddy-merckx-kessels-1977

"This bike is built by Kessels – known by the compass on the fork crowns and the grooves on the steerer tube. A really stiff and strong frame built in Reynolds 531 tubing "

  • Merckx off to @retrodicorsa for some frame prep.

  • Sadly, I will be putting my Cascarsi up for sale shortly. 61cm frame, Potenza/Chorus group, Easton RT90 wheelset, Nitto bars and seatpost, etc. Looking for £890 all in, or I’ll split for more. PM if you’re interested.

  • Moser finished, first ride tomorrow!

  • Fantastic! I love the pink and black parts look classy!

  • that is wonderful. beautifully proportioned and balanced. good work dude

  • very very nice, those columbus forks look great

  • Great to see another fizik Volta! Looking forward to getting out on mine when the bike is set up.

  • Did a 'gentle' 130kms on it this morning, chasing @lowbrows around Surrey. Needs a little bit of tweaking but rides beautifully. I also need to get used to Campag again, it's been years.

    @jonny hope you're well!

  • In the flesh-it is even better. Great ride.

  • Looking good mate. Looks like you gave it a fine christening.

  • Ranmore was closed due to tree cutting so we went off road.

Wasn't exactly what it was designed for, but loads of fun anyway

  • U Suuurrrrreeeeey??

  • Finally built up the olmo superlight I bought off @lmananimal a couple of years ago. Built by the guys at Velo Domestique in Bournemouth. Stem has been slammed, and handlebars / shifters adjusted since this photo was taken

  • That's a great looking build, I think you've got the balance of black and silver/alloy components just right. Hope you don't mind if copy that theme for my blue and white Dave Marsh ;-)

Great shop too, anyone out for a day at the seaside should pop in there for a bun and a browse.

  • Giacomelli I just built up
