I understand about hayfever (suffering from it badly) so will temper my negative view in the above post slightly although the coastal wind is pretty good at clearing irritants, but having had coronavirus this cough we heard around was exactly the same.
The don't give a f... attitude we came across throughout the area was extraordinary though.
The Big hen do holiday special (20plus people) who all, by complete coincidence, had mask exempt badges for example.
If Cornwall is spiking it isn't really to do with the G7.

does seem there is at least some early evidence to show that deaths are remaining low despite cases rising, even when you offset the typical lag time between cases and deaths.

Hmm, but the daily death numbers are beginning to rise. Last 7 days is 101 which is up 35 or 53.0%, that's the early signs of exponential growth there too (albeit at low numbers so sensitivity is sky high).
As with most things like this, we'll have more of an idea in 14 days. If the 7 day death figure is up to or over 200 on the 6th July then we're right back in the thick of it - the question will be whether it plateaus early if the cases/hospitilisations figures continue to rise.
(Death numbers from: https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/ )

One positive data view is that, when looking at areas such as Burnley and Bedford, that had delta spikes earlier than the rest of the country, there has not been the follow on spike in deaths that would usually appear at week 2 to 3.

Am just wondering, were you there when lockdown was eased for last july? Friends who live in Devon and Cornwall said that there were alot more people there and on the beeches with little social distancing and masks back then....but masks weren't compulsory...

Haven’t found a PCR for less than €90 here in Germany. Haven’t really looked though, TBF.
58 euros here in Luxembourg, free if you time your mass-test invites right (I get at least 1 a month). Biggest problem is getting an appointment towards the end of the week as every bastard is traveling so needs a test.

In South Devon, there definitely seems to be fewer people this time around, having said that, the traffic has been pretty horrendous. Last week we did a Thur/Fri/Sat stay at a tiny (6 pitch) campsite in North Devon for the first time in a year, so partner could work on her anxiety exposure therapy, and judging from the number of new tents/rookie camping errors, I think that a lot of people had planned on Portugal then got the rug pulled, and were left with not a lot of options.

Team that has been back to the office is now all isolating because one of them tested positive for Covid. #fucktheofficereturn

I’m currently in quarantine in Obergurgl in Austria, theres absolutely no one about, it feels like I’m in a horror film.

We just got sent home as someone in the other company that shares the office tested positive. He wasn't in today so just deep clean and wasted commute - not even on the bike so missed a nice ride.

Obergurgl
That's a rad name.
Is it near Gurgl?

I'm sat at the dining table still because building management are waiting on insurance company to fix walls so we can clean carpet and then move desk back. Fucking should've just fixed it myself and sent them the bill.
Still better than going to the office.

Ober it apparently.

It's above the Gurgl (the Gurglbach) which is a river. Hence the name. Like Henley-on-Thames.

Lovely day outside and the mountains look glorious, I’m under strict instructions not to leave my apartment.

Gurgl
Of course it's a river! :D Haha awesome. I need to ride there to appreciate the gurgle of the Gurgl.

Lockdown #1 - months of the best weather ever in London and I sat on my little balcony and rode the turbo for months on end.

FTFY for extra gurgliness.

Oh, it's right near Timmelsjoch so it's possible I've been to/near Gurgl already
-
• #22124
Hahah there's a place called Pill there too. So you can Gurgl after your Pill.

I've stayed in Obergurgl before.
There's some bonkers riding around there - if you head down the valley and then up to Kuhtai, the descent down towards Innsbruck is fucking mental.
Yep, Lloyds
