The Continental bamboo tees are great, I believe Condor used to use them for their tees. Otherwise keep an eye out for the tell-tale collar size label

I was going to say Howies but it looks either I was imagining they did Bamboo stuff or don't have any at all now.
There's some cheapish blended t-shirts out there that might be a good place to start, or just go for the standard sports gear route as someone else has mentioned.

My suggestion would be bamboo; similar qualities to merino but no animal products. Plenty out there, but you'd struggle with cheap.
