Ha - all good.
It has turn by turn satnav already through the BMW connected app - shows them on the screen.I think the main thing I'm missing is the light guard.
Very important for committing up and down the A10.
Also - maybe the titanium Akropovic exhaust?

Can imagine, the Blackbird was as big, but as soon as it was rolling you would know it weighed anything.

Ah hmm. It really is close, then.

Yay. Very occasionally everything goes smoothly with the spannering and makes me feel like I know what I’m doing. Re-wired the XR650r with a new reg/Rec and mini 12v sealed lead acid battery. Annnnnd full credit to XRS Only in Hesperia, I swapped in a set of their special race clutch springs and seem to have fixed the clutch issue. Major win if it sticks as it’s dogged me for ages! Barely stiffer at the lever than stock too. Perfect for my messed up hands.

The fucks wrong with your hands??? Messed up hands + MX shindigs sounds like agony!
Glad to hear about the clutch issues. Really need to do the one on the tiger. Rattling like mad. -

Got a bit of arthritis and various creaks from broken fingers years ago. Can’t abide heavy clutches any more. No idea why they put such a weak clutch in the XR - 4 springs fer fucks sake!

Back in business. Rides best it ever has been, rear swing arm bearings been on the way out for donkies, makes a huge difference to confidence, though actual handling still the same! It's a bit low in the ass as still has original shock, tried a longer body shock to raise it, but raised too far, felt amazing on tracks, but the rest of the time was a total pita. Braking into corners you get actively jacked forward.
Just in time for the really good weather. Screen coming off it, fed up of buffeting problems, nothing really makes it go away

Le Mans 24 hours has just finished. Worth a watch if you need a break from the sun.

Will be interested to see if it's an improvement getting a face full of wind. I've got my screen dialled in now but my neck muscles certainly improved on long fast rides before fitting a screen. Different bike of course. BMW often attract negative comments about the screens, not sure what they are doing wrong.
The bike looks great to my eyes.

I have that screen on the DR350. Granted my speeds are lower on it, but it was used fast a bunch of times over winter on road tyres. The trick was to get it as vertical as possible, so the lip at the top forces the turbulence somewhere other that on your visor. Also, you may benefit from increasing the distance between the bike and the screen. An air gap will allow a micro-current of air to reduce the significant change between air pressures where the buffeting happens.

You might see it on photo, but have some tortec bike pannier stays holding the windscreen a variable distance away. So that clear screen (the best of at least 6 I've tried) is meant to mount direct to the black plastic. At that distance it literally makes bike impossible to ride above 35 to 40mph.
Can move it around quite a lot, gets near vertical, supported at the base by some screws linked by some old fuel hose, allows adjustment in angle but doesn't flop about.
Up till last year had some abs plastic wing lets that I just riveted on down the side in that cutaway bit above indicator. Between all that makes it really well protected upto 55mph, with good view at ground. Keeps the worst of winter and wind off. But above 55 is just a pita. -

Hmm. Sure. I understand.
On the XJ I put the ironically names Puig ‘mini’ screen, which fairs me well enough and I don’t notice bad buffeting. I must get flat on the tank, though, to get the blissful moment of silence.
On the DR the Dakar screen is pretty much vertical but it is bolted in the one position that I found worked… of course, the DR is rarely above 60mph anyway now and the weather has improved so I’m not sure why I bother. Probably because it’s keeping puddle mud off me.

I can't remember the last time watching TV made me feel so uneasy as seeing Quatararo do the last few laps of the Catalan MOTOGP with his leathers unzipped and no breast plate. Proper wincing!

Does airbag tech still work if unzipped?

It is quite an upright riding position, most of the bikes with screens that work you have to tuck into them.

First ride in a while. Forgot how much it makes me smile riding a big bike. My 390 KTM is a joy but I do miss the joyous Ducati death rattle.

I had a good spank around the canyons dans Malibu yesterday on my GSXR and sucked the scenery back a little too. Highly amusing.
