Might just be a function of your spelling idiosyncrasies and their proximity to Spanish as the most likely alternative to the first-choice English dictionary

My dog can count to the amount of times I’ve heard or read escocía used outside of grammar studies, unlike Escocia which is the name of a well known nation. Weird that it corrects to the far less likely of the two.

Huh, it’s stopped happening, only took 2 years. Escocia Escocia Escocia :)

Although it's already fixed itself, if it's really a rare word and you'll know exactly when you want to use it, just delete it from your keyboard dictionary, long press on the auto suggest word on Android, dunno if it's the same on iPhone.
