Been up in the North East, Craster, been 10°c.
Go 500m inland 20°c. Been like it the last 3 days. This photo shows it perfectly. Colloquially known as Sea Haar

The BBC's Scottish meteorologist (Carol?) loves mentioning Sea Haar and Sea Fret in the forecast. They're the only presenter I've ever heard mention it on TV though, is it a northern term?

From a brief Wikipedia search it's a northern/Scottish occurrence, so a Scottish/northern word, from Dutch apparently.

Pretty sure the forecast last night at 10 pm was "maybe some showers affecting the most southern counties" not "8 hours solid downpour over London"

"8 hours solid downpour over London"
Are you that optimistic about it stopping?

Apologies, i should of mentioned that I took today off with the intention of a long ride north out of London
Shimano’s stupid bb bearing sizes which doesn’t work with my park tool (with the crap plastic Shimano adapter) put paid to that though without help from the weather.

@snottyotter has it right, a little further south in my part of the world, East Yorkshire, it is a Sea Rork from the Viking smoke

Last month we had a slightly unexpected thunderstorm roll along the line of the Chilterns. I recorded a bit of it and now it can be found on this lovely collection of audio: https://fieldrecordings.xyz/2021/06/14/retreating-thunderstorm-cuddington-buckinghamshire-uk-in-may-2021-by-paul-ridout/

Don't suppose you have a downloadable version?

Wtf is this bullshit?
My weather app says no rain till 5pm. No rain right now apparently, but yet its been spitting to fine drizzling all morning.
Does that mean drizzle all day?

A suspected tornado has [...] sent dustbins flying hundreds of metres
If that’s the worst of it, residents should be elated.

Ok. This weather can now fuck off.

Getting pretty annoyed with it turning dark around 4pm as the clouds roll in and then pissing down until the brief respite around 8am

went out just for the pleasure of getting wet earlier, had something to do which could easily have been put off, but fancied a bit of wet, managed to time the torrent just right 15 minute ride, sopping wet when i got home
nice change from dodging showers and seeking the sun, now nice and dry and warm and snugglyglad i don't have to do it every day mind

epping forest isn't too dusty either for this time of year
-
• #8849
What do you mean? That's a lot of dust, just with a bit of water mixed in.

Pretty biblical rain earlier, so much so that the gardens I can see (all grass not astroturf) are waterlooged as it can't soak in quick enough, haven't seen that for years.
First short sleeve road ride today. Started chilly but the sun came out eventually. Forecast looks mild, this could be it.
