I've never gotten any serious hole stopped with road tubeless. But the little thorns or snake bite style punctures are gone. Which made up the vast majority for me. For anything above a couple of mm then I'll switch out to a tube. But for me the major thing is that I'd have gotten a flat from that anyway. It's that I don't get flats for all the other random little shit that tubeless is great.

Limited punctures running Challenge open clincher 23 but pretty much all rough chip and seal country lanes at 100psi.

Tubeless is shit at road racing pressures, I tried everything but even tire worms get expelled. Chucking a new tube in is far more reliable than hoping for the sealant/worm to seal and pump every 15 minutes. On the other hand, haven't used a tube on my gravel/commuter in years, but that never gets more than 40-50 psi and I carry a big pump in the frame bag for those pesky slow leaks.

I never bothered converting to tubeless as even riding a lot of distance on terrible roads I just don't puncture that often. I was always a Conti fan going from 4000s to 4000s II and then recently to 5000. However, when I switched to my winter bike last year (using the wheels off my commuter) I couldn't believe how much comfier the Vittoria tyres were (I had wrongly assumed it was the difference between wheels). I've now switched to Vittoria Corsa for the summer bike and IMO they are vastly more comfortable with absolutely no loss of speed at all. In fact, after a 70 or 80 mile club run I'm noticeably less fatigued from all the jarring around I used to get from the 5000s. I'm running 28s BTW. The Corsa comes in a tan wall option too.

idk i've had great luck with tubeless road. i run between 60 and 80 psi in 28/32mm gp5k, and pro ones. been able to big cuts with patches in the field no problem. dynaplug also works well. can always put in a tube anyway. almost never puncture.

650b tyre for muddy conditions (like we will see on Saturday)? My WTB Horizons are not going to cut it

I just ordered a pair of Goodyear connectors (650x50) from PBK for a good price. They were £55 for 2 (thou seem to have gone back up to 72 now). Probably be as bad as all gravel tyres in mud but defo more thread than a horizon!

Thanks, condor also have the hutchinson touareg in 27.5 x 1.45 for £34 each. I don't think i'd fit 50 in my sequoia

Tempted to get some schwalbe g-one allround's (40m) for general use on 50% tarmac byway/gravel rides. Anyone tried them? Another option are the WTB Ventures?
I currently have specialized pathfinders which are good on road but only okay on compacted dirt and gravel. If they were just a bit better off road I'd probably stick with them.
Unless my route was 90% gravel I think id favour a less sluggish feel on road - might get some Pirelli Gravel M's too for more off road than road rides..

Just been using a 38mm set of these Schwalbe tyres for a gravel/road tour around the Trossachs, rate them pretty highly. Good on the rough stuff & don't feel too sluggish on the tarmac.

Mounted these on my light bicycle 25mm internal rims and they come up about 47/48mm, so good enough clearance on my Niner RLT.
Got to say they were the easiest mounting tubeless tyres I've used and seated with a track pump and held air with no sealant. Maybe it's the new rims as well, I dont know. It was almost too easy!

Ive got some Allrounds, replacements will be something slicker for tarmac and just slightly nobbly for rougher stuff

sorry bit confused, are you saying you're getting rid of the allrounds?
Bit annoyed I didnt realise they only come in 38mm, was hoping to go slightly bigger ie 40 or 42 and slightly more nobbly than existing tyres, feels a bit of a waste of money to just go very slightly more nobbly but not any more volume. Might go for some gravelking SK's in 43mm..

disappointing - WTB were also on my list but they also have some shocking reviews in terms of losing air.
Pirelli Cinturato Gravel H also on my list, bicyclerollingresistance at least rates them..

Does this match your experience of them? Or are you just getting rid of them based on that review?
I take those rolling resistance tests with a massive heap of salt but other people seem to put a lot of trust in them. Curious to hear thoughts from forumers?
@apc I like GK SKs in 43mm, they feel surprisingly fast to me. Some other forumites don't like them (maybe @hippy ?) Bicycle rolling resistance man thinks they're good IIRC.

I raced GK SK+ tyres at Badlands in 700x50mm form. I had 0 issues with them other than an initial failure due to a bike shop's shoddy taping job (after my multiple attempts with Tesa failed to hold air to begin with).
They're quite a supple tyre so I would expect them to be quite fast, if a little trickier to get sealed.

Think I’ve done around 500 miles on them, they just seem to suck the life/ joy out of any ride whether off road or tarmac. No issues with durability or puncture fears with them though.
Had GK SKs a while ago but sold the bike so will probably go back to those next time
If you can run pressures less than 60psi it might be worth it. But you just can't fix a tear like you can on mtb tubless.
I do run road tubless as most of my punctures were from pinch flats, which it stops. And if you can bodge it with a worm you can out a tube in anyway. I've had about 50-50 success worming road tyres.
Gp5000 are good yes.
