  • Doesn’t yesterday prove that they could’ve done the whole stage?

    Whole stage = more fatigue & colder = increased risk of crashes. I think they made the right call.

  • I’m going to make a wild guess that there are more crashes on hot dry stages, when riders are pushing the limits, than on wet and cold stages.

  • There's a probably a stato can confirm. I imagine there are certain sets of conditions that contribute more. Wet being one. Windy another. Sprint finish higher risk. Descent more likely than on ascent (unless Moto parks up or fan is a nobber). Heat might be a factor too, it was a hot dry day when Beloki ended his career and put Lance through a field iirc.
