  • Parlee Z5 SLI - Electronic only - custom painted by forum's own hoops / colourburn

Since my last bike fit, it's been very hard to make this fit and as a result it's just not being ridden enough.

    Frame is size M/L (Tall)

    Fork - Enve 2.0
    Headset - Tune

Takes a 31.6mm seat post and PF30 BB.
    Band on front mech.

The paint is just fantastic. Very hard to appreciate through photos, but a real work of art. Condition is generally very good as it has been used sparingly.

Two notable points of wear: Some rub on the inside of the chainstays from one ride with a tyre too wide. Scratches to paint near BB due to slipped tool.

All in, weight is about 1150g.

Tyre clearance at the back is not huge by modern standards (hence wear). 25s depend very much on rim width/model of tyre. 23s v safe bet.

Price wise I'm asking £800 for now. I think that's fair, but I'm keen to sell it on here so will happily adjust if I'm way off the mark there.

Preference to collection from West London - also happy to post (at cost).

  • This isn’t going to hang around for long!

  • My word, that's lovely. Glad it's electronic as not sure I could resist an impulse buy!

  • If someone need 8050 di2 groupset you can hit me up. It would go great with this

  • Love that paint scheme, awesome bikes these GLWS!

  • Fun fact - This frame used to belong to famous channel 5’s famous TV’s famous Matt Barbet.

  • That paint is phenomenal! GLWS

  • I used to have a Z5- standard version. Amazing frame which I still regret selling a few years ago (wanted to go Di2 which it didnae dooo).

  • What rim/tyre combo caused the rub on the chainstay?

  • From my own personal experience, you won't get more than a "true" 25mm tyre on fairly narrow 15-17mm internal rims.

I've read of Z5 owners sending their frame back to Parlee even to have the chainstays modified they like the frames that much (but want to run more modern tyre/rim combos).

  • The rub was caused by a 25 GP4000 on a 17mm internal rim.

Changed to different 17mm internal with a 25 GP5000 and it was fine. Could have been a difference in lateral stiffness (?) of the rim. The first did seem to flex more when out of the saddle etc.

Also used 24 Turbo Cottons on a 17mm internal, which were fine.

  • I think @dbr found 28mm 5k came up smaller than 25mm 4K but may have that wrong.

  • I had 25c open corsa with Easton EC90 19mm internal on a one of these and it was too close for my liking, then for some daft reason I found a 27c pave and it was a better fit (swapping wheels around and wanting to keep the frame off the floor) ran them for a while but caused some paint rub after the wheel came out of true on a ride - switched to 23c open corsa and all is well - I’ve also heard of folks having the chain stays modded to take up to 28mm (calfee have done it a few times according to various threads on US forums) - still the best frame I’ve ridden

But, again, that paint job! 👌

  • GP4000sii 25c was 28mm, GP5000 28c was 27mm. Both on DT Swiss PR1400 Dicut Oxic which are 18mm internal width. This is good, gives me 1mm more clearance on my Look, and jazzy new rubber.

Think GP5000 25c was like 24mm but not sure.

  • sigh...

  • Get this one! Upgrade to the SLi - you’re buying the paint, the frame is free 👍🏻👍🏻

  • LOL as lovely as it is, It's personally not really my cup o'tea paint-scheme wise...

  • Fairplay...

Just to say that I think that these 'electric only' frames can run mechanical groups if you get different grommets for cable entry holes etc... thats how mine is, but it might be an earlier version... dunno... @hoops might know more or worth checking with Parlee, might help a sale - GLWS!

  • I have no idea.

  • .

  • I've read the same about some iterations of the Z5. I'm not sure exactly how it would work with this frame, but I'll look into it - thanks.

Managed to sort some pictures of the frame as it's built currently.

Weight is about 7kg in this set up with fairly heavy bars stem and seat post so lots of scope for a lightweight build if that's your thing.

  • nice frame and nice build !
if you can route a full length outer cable through the downtube, under the bb axle, and exit it at the end of the chainstay, then you can install a read derailleur to set up the frame as a 1x mechanical build. however not sure how to route a cable to a mecha front derailleur .

  • Any photos of it built up? Looking to see how paint looks ‘in the wild’

    Just saw above post! Sorry

  • Yea, pics here https://flic.kr/s/aHsmVLZMLc

    Will add to first post.

They're a pretty good representation. Really hard to capture though as it looks different depending on the light.

  • I can't believe no one's bought this. I can't afford (or justify) the accompanying groupset.
