  • It may be decent value, but I'm still baffled by the shitness of highlights.

Not least because of the effort the people in charge of the TV feed go to get coverage of the whole race. Helicopters (multiple for refuelling I imagine) a plane relaying the feed from altitude, loads of motos - Then ES just decide to stick a hastily chopped summary of the last hour and half into an hour - seems rude to me.

Also, the riders got all that dust in their eyes from those motos and then the pictures are only watched by the few lucky enough to be able to skive work and watch it live (he types on work time at 10am).

  • Judging from how chronically plagued by audio issues the Eurosport/GCN stream is (almost a running joke at this point), I'd say they're very understaffed.

  • Shame Carlo Catalano doesn’t do his ‘ How the race was won ‘ roundups ... they were very good , good insight and fairly humorous ....

  • 80% of the budget is going on wardrobe expenses. TK Maxx is having a great Giro.

  • Are they still commentating from different places sort of via zoom? They're still not back at the actual race yet.

Any - nuff coverage chat - has Remco explained his hissy fit yet? Is he talking to Almeida? I need the goss.

  • Wiggins and Blytho (?) can’t even afford socks.

  • Notoriously sweaty ankles.

  • To have a team of even two editors in front of a bank of monitors to cut up the day’s action as it happens costs money.

I agree that would be better spent than on the studio bantz but ES doesn’t so there we are.

  • Ethan put away some decent names in the Spanish chipper yesterday. Let's see if he can stay upright and keep hold of yellow this time.

    #VCLwatch

  • I see are brave Cav is having a roll around too.

  • That's Sir Cav inserts george cross to you

  • Cracking ride to get up that killer climb at the end .... he must have some legs on him at the moment , hope he can stay in the lead this time ... not exactly South London temperatures though

  • I want him to come out on a Souths Hills

  • Chris Horner in fine form, eviscerates Almeida:

  • What sort of rider is he? Seems like someone with a fast uphill finish but not necessarily and engine for long climbs?

I’m sure Brailsford and Ellingworth will turn him into a boring mountain train robot within a year or two.

  • ... I expect them to adjust to this too. To put it bluntly: if Remco is the stronger of the two and Almeida doesn’t do what we expect of him, his bike stays on the truck and he can go home. But the same is true in reverse.

    Lefevere earlier this month.

"I'd rather keep quiet than say what I think"
Tour of Italy 09:36 By Fernando Emilio

In one of the most anticipated of the stages of the Tour of Italy, due to the 35km of dirt sections (and which connected Wednesday Perugia to Montalcino with 162km), the three Portuguese deserve praise.

João Almeida (DQT) had to wait and tow Evenepoel, who was not able to be with the direct opponents and dropped to 7th in the general classification; "I felt good and with good sensations, I had possibilities to beat the best, but I had to follow the orders that came from the support car to wait for Remco. Do I feel disappointed? I prefer to keep quiet and say what I think. Every day I am learning and today I learnt a lot, in a fantastic stage where I could have gone far. The cycling is a collective sport and who rules are the sport directors to whom we have to obey", said João Almeida, disappointed, to A BOLA.

  • Almeida to the newspaper A Bola: "I felt good, I had a chance to beat the best, but I had to follow orders to wait for Remco. Do I feel disappointed? I'd rather be silent than say what I think."

I think it's now pretty clear what you think.

  • Where was Almeida on GC before yesterday's stage?

  • Trackie with his eyes on Tokyo golds at the mo, this is all training.

Could turn himself into whatever he wants to after I think. Fast enough to be a sprinter, light enough with a big enough engine to get up real mountains, already winning TTs.

  • That's what I thought. So wtf did he think he was going to do? Make up 4 mins on that stage?
