Buyer has paid with e-cheque?
I wouldn’t be posting till funds had cleared.
-
• #2228
I wouldn't either, but with the managed payment system, it looks like ebay won't release money until the item has been delivered. From a selling point of view, that's just mad.

Funds availability
Although the buyer has paid, the funds will be on hold while we confirm that the buyer is happy with the order. We have implemented this practice to keep eBay a trusted marketplace. Check your payment status in the Payments section of My eBay or the Payments tab in Seller Hub. -

We have implemented this practice because we give zero fucks, you pleb

If you’re not a trusted seller (most casual sellers aren’t) then eBay will hold the funds for a few days after delivery. They probably make bank off the interest but not much one can do.

Under the Paypal system couldn't the buyer complain and get their money back from you?
-
• #2233
Sounds like they can do the same under this system - with bells on. The buyer has to confirm they're "happy" with the order before I see anything....
-
• #2234
Is it no buyer confirmation = no money or buyer doesn't complain within x days = you get your money?
-
• #2235
I'd be cancelling the sale , thats a pisstake

I found this, which says a delay of 21 days for new sellers only, or until tracking shows the item as delivered:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/fees-invoices/feesinvoices-invoice/pending-payments?id=4155Not sure how the one month delay in the post above fits into this.

I'm a bit stuck.
Listed a barn find bike on ebay that is attracting significant interest but seatpost appears to be seized and perhaps pedals too. I'd like to amend the listing to include this info but it seems I can't as it has already attracted bids. Anybody know if this is the case?
-
• #2238
That’s correct; once an item has bids you can’t change the description. However, you can add ‘new’ information. Existing bidders should then be notified that new information has been added and they can retract their bids if they see fit.

Bought a used Carradice SQR kit on eBay. It arrived today packed out in the box with, quite literally, a bag of mud.
What the actual fuck?

WTAF?!

Stick it in a pot, water it and see what grows. Maybe the seller got his bags of skunk seeds mixed up?
-
• #2242
It’s a heat sealed bag. Doesn’t smell skunky but no idea if it would?!
-
• #2243
Looks like a bag of potting compost. Seller maybe thought was giving a nice surprise, whilst recycling packaging at the same time. Random, but hey thats Carradicelife for you 😂

eBay buyers: What’s the lowest you’ll accept for this?
Me: What’s the most you’ll pay?
-

Nice; I like your response. Pretty standard for ebay these days though; everyone wants something for nothing or they don't bother. My recent comms have been along the lines of:
Me: Offers free postage
Buyer: If I buy this can I get it tomorrow?
Me: Do you want to pay an extra £6 for special delivery? (still means I have to pack and post pretty much immediately)
Buyer: No.
Me: Ok, fuck off then. Buyer blocked. Also, item listed for £100 or best offer. Buyer offers £50. I counter offer. No response from buyer, counter offer expires.
Me: Blocks buyer.I know; I take it way too personally and probably have half the world on my blocked list now and wonder why my sales have dwindled! If I don't sell on my terms I'll happily just keep hold of something rather than give it away. But when I do sell, I pride myself in making sure I describe every detail, overpack everything, make sure buyer is 100% happy etc.
But yeah; long story short; ebay sucks. More now than ever it seems.....

Hahahaha! It never surprises me the amount of people who ask/offer daft things on there anymore.
Although I have recently asked a seller how much their reserve was, given a previous auction on an item I wanted (couple of hundred £) got to within a fiver of the BIN price and was still under.
As for selling now, I take my chances on Gumtree (where some people have a ridiculous idea what their stuff might be worth - which doesn't bother me as a seller, as my stuff looks like a bargain)/local selling sites or Mrs c00ps has an extended F*ceb**k network of people who seem to hoover up stuff.
Or I go back to hoarding all the things...

eBay buyers: Offer £5 for something clearly with £50
Me: Counter offer £8,000,000
"Buyer has paid. Send the item now to complete the transaction. **Your funds will be available on 19th June" ** What the absolute fuck?!
