What's the explanation for the steerer having to poke out of the stem again? I've read it somewhere here (probably in @gbj_tester thread) but I can't find it anymore.
As for the bar tape I would also tape it the other way round but Mash says I've been doing it wrong

I presume your stem caps remove the need for a spacer, as they incorporate a 2.5mm one of their own? As long as the steerer is cut precisely to length of course

Thanks! But wouldn't it be sufficient if the steerer is longer than the uppest screw that clamps the stem (red line)?
