Yeah that ~40mm size is tough to find.
There's the Bremont Supermarine

Oris also do 40mm versions of the 65 diver ( and a 36, but imagine that will be too small)

That Bell & Ross is very, very nice.
@chrismanc - cheers, I'll add that to the shortlist!

• #55105
apparently there is a diver version of the Smiths Everest coming - @Stonehedge shared a photo a month or so ago but I can't find it now... 36mm

Very VERY nice

that Oris is a bit of a looker as well, isn't it? Shame they're all 42mm+
Oris also come in 40mm.

Sometimes you need to try them on as not all 42mm are 42mm
(Well, they are but height, lug to lug, shape, etc. all have a bearing on the fit of a watch)I appreciate I am spouting what you already know, but in case others are not aware.

Some lovely dial variations on the Bell & Ross
-
• #55112
Yeah, I like that one and the recent olive drab one (I particularly like how they've done the black lines / outlines on the dial).
I came close to buying the GMT a couple of times. However there was always something about the way it wears that stopped me. Couldn't put my finger on it - it's not thick and 41mm isn't particularly big. I think the 22mm lug width made the bracelet look big, or something.
Still like it. Would like to see the green IRL.

Yeah, proper smart that. Really really like.

Is v nice but the Panerai font just doesn't do it for me.
-
• #55115
The numbers seem too close to the edge, unbalanced somehow.

The blue really varies a lot in different light. This is my favourite shade.

Obligatory “B&R really nail the date window” comment

Love the outlining too, it reminds me of the Brietling Superocean in how it makes the numbers stand out.
@ElGonzo I'm not trying to put you off the bb58, they're very nice despite David Beckham's endorsement. The applied dial markers in particular are a cut above a lot of others in the same price bracket. Just mentioning some more options.

It does, only thing I’m a tad annoyed is that the bracelet is either too tight or too loose, might get someone to drill an extra hold so it can have 4 micro adjustment instead of 3.

I really appreciate all the options you've thrown at me, and I have to confess the Beckham endorsement really does gnaw away at me even though I know I should be above that shit and take the watch/brand on its merits. Beckham though... argh.
As it stands that Bell & Ross is the pick of the bunch until I see them in the flesh.

Ditto, what drew me to the BB58 is that it’s quite a boring watch.
Not in a negative way, with the exception of the faux rivet bracelet (I quite like them), it’s the least flashy timepiece I’ve own that blend in anywhere.
One thing I do enjoy is feeling the pronounced domed crystal which is spot on, and somehow make it easier to read than a flat crystal.

Glad I'm not on my own there.
It really will come down to trying them on now, if the BB58 just feels right on the wrist then that's that. I'll try and get to a WoS and some other places this weekend. Will go with my old man and I guarantee no matter which watch I look at he'll say 'just get an Omega' and that'll be the extent of his input. Thanks, Dad. Useful.

Well, you know, he's got a point.
-
• #55124
Don't man, just don't.

- I can't let him 'win'.
- It's a slippery slope that ends up at something I can't really afford.
- The Omega will come, in time.
Needless to say the first point is by far the most important one here.
- I can't let him 'win'.
Like the Tag, that Oris is a bit of a looker as well, isn't it? Shame they're all 42mm+, think they'd just dwarf my wrist. I was close to pulling the trigger on a Longines Legend Diver (milanese) but then I tried it on, too big. Tried the 36mm too, was just a tad too small :(
