Clue makes perfect sense now.

It is a picture of the only still existing wooden, prototype phone box that is under the arched entrance of the Royal Academy.

A phone - dog (cockney rhyming slang, dog and bone)
Wooden -made of wood.
Royal - heir
Academy - study

Hence the clue: With enough study this wooden dog could be the next heir.
