Both NW and clutch are aimed at reducing chain drop. I suspect Praxis are of the mind that NW on its own isn't sufficient. I can't see why you couldn't run the ring without a clutched mech, but you might suffer chain drop more often than you would with a clutched mech. Probably better than a non-NW and non-clutched set-up though.
Praxis says its single narrow-wide chainring must be used with a clutched rear mech. Can anyone advise why this is so?
