Bike cellar/workshop/man cave

Sorry, at work there are 2 of the silver type above, which I avoid and an even older one which has no kind of quick release, just a bit to turn, I prefer that one.

But both of the silver type are a bit old and knackered, so if we had new ones I'd probably avoid them less.

Hmm, before everyone said they prefered the top one!

Why do you prefer the bottom one? Looks a bit fiddly?

I prefer the top due to work, but the bottom is fine for home mechanic, thought I still find it a tad fiddly after being used to the one at work.

We use the bottom one at work. The cam is good, it prevents applying unecessary pressure.

I am very nervous about the idea of steel tire levers used on alu rims. Is this wrong?

Whilst I have no evidence they are bad I wouldn't bring steel levers near alloy rims. I do however, have one of these which I use to force my sons tyre on his 12 in rims. Absolute sod to get on. Leads to lots of swearing especially when I punture the tube in the process.

At work, we have those newer Bontrager "aero" designed tyres, which make mounting a burden (moreso with Mavic rims), it'll also quite likely to be our popular choice of tyres due to the price, weight and width, to help with this, I purchase one of those;

What it does is simply pull the bean into the rims, the back hook onto the back of the rims, and the front hook onto the tyre bead.

Yes, sorry, I'm not very good at threads, I tend to start them then forget all about them.

Here is the workstand in action:

Since the last update I fitted the infrared heater, but originally I fitted it a bit far out so it was a bit too intense (it's quite a big heater in a small space).

I moved it back a bit and reconfigured things and now it's fine (as long as you don't look at it):

Here it is switched on. It looks more red in real life but you can't capture that with a digital camera it turns out:

Also since the last update I have been trying to get this thing actually finished! It's been just over a year now since we got the builders in to do the first stage. So we thought we'd get them in again to finish it off.

Latex floor poured nice and flat:

Cork flooring being laid (weird mobile phone pic as I forgot to take a proper one). The two brick 'steps' you can see on the left meant that there wasn't a straight edge to run the floor against so my builder ran some wood along the edge:

Then came back today and put cement in between the wood and the wall, which should be quite neat when it's painted:

When that's done it just needs trim/bead along the edges to finish it off, we've got some in white to match the wall.

It turns out Quick Step make this, so I felt a bit guilty for not supporting pro cycling when I bought B&Q own brand. But they didn't have any Quick Step in white.

I have an almost identical tool cabinet (well the same but red) that I got from Halfords in a sale. If it is the same the top draws are not attached to the base unit. They just sit there. Be careful how many draws you open in one go. If well loaded its easy to tip the top unit.

I'm bringing this back because our cellar needs a makeover.

Since it got flooded with a bit of sewage I threw away quite a lot of stuff, and realised what a good place it could be when it no longer smells of sewage. The steps are extremely steep though - @Fox how did you find taking bikes up and down yours? How's it looking nowadays?

Painting the walls is definitely something I've got in mind for ours. Possibly the floor as well (it's concrete) just to get a bit more light in.
