I wonder if people would be advocating for a draw if Are Tom was declared the winner?
-
• #33028
Nah, a Belgian won it.
If Van der Poel was in his position though...Interesting fact that the women’s version of Amstel Gold drew more viewers than the men’s.
Good news for the women’s races and also the star power of the likes of Vos and Van Vleuten? They did have an all Dutch podium.I guess more British people might have watched AGR men’s because Pidcock was a contender?

I read that about the women's race having more viewers but it was misleading reporting i think. they showed 3 hours of the men's race and only 1 hour of the women's. the stat they reported was average over the duration. not many would have watched the full 3 hours.
they also reported the number of people that had watched each race at all and there were loads more for the men's.
suggests to me that they should have shown more of the women's race and less of the men's. (ie. more than 1 hour for women and less than 3 hours for men.) It might have been tricky since it was all on a circuit in this case though.

In other "long read" news, I really like the new format of race reporting that Cyclingnews have picked up

Ah, ok. Are his sunglasses still bigger than his head? I'm only interested in him for his sunglasses.

I know you are taking the piss, but I think comparing someone who overdid asthma medicine, due to a mistake by the team doctor, with someone who had his blood extracted to be re-infused later lacks equivalence.

flag at 3/4 mast

Sunglasses are asthma medicine now? The mind boggles.

What is Mohoric doing here at corner entry, jerking his bike like that? It's almost like he's doing a weight-transfer manoeuvre like a rally driver trying to break rear traction...

106th, 14:19 down on the stage winner. Moves up 9 places on GC to 106th.

Looks more like he was avoiding something on the road with a bit of a flick. Pothole or something.

He's sandbagging on purpose. Michelle is going to make a killing on inside betting tour odds.

Looks like a crack in the road?
Countersteering at 90 kph would be ballsy even for him

Yeah, there's definitely a flash of darker road which I assumed was a road defect.

Hirschi and Pogacar not racing today, which is a loss.

Hirschi not really repaying the investment so far.
Great article. Thanks for sharing.
The GCN/ES coverage was irresponsible. I was half expecting Stephens to shout “FAKE NEWS!” down the mic.
