"admin requires your device to be managed". What kind of data would they be able to collect if I was to allow this?

At my place this is so that they can confirm if you have a screen lock (no screen lock, no email access) and remotely wipe your phone. No general access to your data.

Does ios allow you to set up a work profile? On Android you can have a sandboxed work profile so access is limited to that.

I just tried Citrix Secure Email - "Account not targeted with MAM policy. Contact your administrator"
Think it's time to give up and just routinely check my email in a browser

The Android solution is to run a sandboxed profile so there's no crossover between personal and work accounts. May be worth asking on the Apple thread if there is an equivalent for Apple.
