If I have a 1" threaded fork with a longer steerer tube than I need, can I turn it into a 1" threadless fork by just cutting off the threaded section, using a threadless headset and 1" threadless stem/1 1/8" + shim?
(Or at a push if there is still a section of threads where the spacers and stem sit use an alu shim and 1 1/8" stem).
Sheldon says:
1" Threaded ISO steerer OD = 25.4 mm
1" Threadless stem ID = 25.4 mm
1" Threaded Crown race = 26.4 mm
1" Threadless Crown race = 26.4 mm

So that should mean I'm right, right?
