Best bikepacking bags I’ve seen were made by ortleib. Now very fashionable but really good materials and overall quality is superb. As for fork cages I recommend Blackburn’s Outpost Cargo Cage. Just a piece of metal but are supplied with nice rubberised straps

Cheers.
I've got a set of the ortlieb panniers and a couple of their dry bags - always been impressed with their stuff.
The Blackburn cages look decent, and relatively cheap compared to the other options on the market.

Gbduro route from Bristol to Manchester next week.
It's been a while... I remember now how much bikepacking sucks - no space for anything. Long live panniers.

The seat tube bottle bosses are really high on that frame.
Could get a top tube bag and some fork leg bags if you needed some extra space.

Am doing a mini trip next weekend - one night. Realise my sleeping bag is only rated to 5 degrees. Its going to be 5 degrees next weekend and I wasnt exactly toasty in the summer when I used it.
Should be okay if I sleep in a down jacket?
What if I bought this https://alpkit.com/products/cloud-cover-down-quilt
and combined it with my existing: https://www.phdesigns.co.uk/minimus-down-sleeping-bag ? -

TLDR - any chance of a summary?

Go to bed warm. Wrap your face with scarf or other cloth to warm the air you breath. I hear face masks are popular these days.

They also had a hot water bottle..
I've bought a liner as the temp is now looking closer to zero

Make sure you wear your warmest long leg underwear, socks and sweatpants. Nothings is more annoying then your ass freezing off where it meets with your sleeping bag

I've bought a liner
I think liner should be the mandatory list, always take one

Woolly socks, beanie, long johns/trackies, base layer and a down jacket and you’ll be fine - if anything probably too warm but yeah, if you run hot like me it’s good to have extra to put on around 2am when it temp drops/food has digested.

Yeah, I'm thinking £25 rack and throw a tent and sleeping bag on the back.
Leave the seatbag for races. -

My fave tips for staying warm in a tent are about dryness:
Keep tent/inner/sleeping bag closed at all times possible during dusk/evening/dewfall to keep things dry. Wear waterproof clothing during this time too.Dry your feet really thoroughly with a towel before putting some dry warm socks on for bed. Weirdly, a very effective measure.
weird, I searched sleeping bag but just got shit loads of useless classifieds. Thanks!
