No idea tbh. But I bought a chop saw from Aldi and it has been great, even the professional carpenter who normally uses Festool said it was decent. So maybe, they do a good bbq too?

Have heard good reviews but just wondered whether anyone has first hand experience

Really interested to see what's in there. Obviously a lot of stuff out there is US focused but I find once you get passed the classics like pulled pork, ribs etc theres a hell of a lot of crap. I'm also getting sick of constantly converting everything to metric 😂

This looks great as well, thanks. Those two should keep me busy.

Loving this weather, what a treat after such a grim winter. Smoked a cauliflower in the Weber following Genevieve Taylor recipe, I ranked it higher than the meat, incredible flavour.

I'm doing a 6hr Carolina style beef joint. First attempt, hope not to fluff it up.

First time trying to cook chicken tikka 'tandoor' style in the kamado. My skewers were a bit small so it was a bit of pain to try and balance everything but the end result was amazing.

Wow, that Joe looks box fresh! Is that the first thing you've cooked in it? Good luck buddy, hope you get it done in 6. Look forward to the pics.

Now been looking at the kamado Joe and green egg. Slightly bewildered by the different models, any tips on what to go for?

Mate, that looks so good. Loving the quality efforts on here. It's been such a lovely day for it.

When it comes to kamados in general the actual 'egg' itself is pretty much identical whichever one you get (apart from the metal ones) as they're all made in the same factories in China. What you're really paying for is the finish on the vents and the accessories. Big green and Joe are by far better than the rest out of the box but they are a hell of a lot more expensive. In the end I went for the Costco (louisiana grills) one as it was the same size as the big Joe (bigger size really comes in handy for standard bbq when you have a lot people over) , came with a deflector plate and a double grill and was £650 compared to 2 grand. The finish on the bottom vent is a bit rough and I had to add some felt to the top vent to stop it leaking, I also bought a thermoworks temp control system so it is pretty much flawless now and I've still spent less than the standard Joe.
TLDR - if you buy a big green or a Joe you won't regret it because they are great but if you don't mind a bit of tinkering you can save a lot of money.

👍 great cheers. Found this one here in Sweden so I’ll check it out https://www.jula.se/catalog/tradgard/utemiljo/grillar-och-eldstader/kolgrillar/keramisk-kolgrill-010395/

That one looks good and a great price, the top vent looks a lot better than mine, seems to be a copy of the kamado Joe one. The only thing I'd want to double check is the lid hinge. If you've never opened one before you'll be surprised how heavy they are so you want that to be rock solid.

Any reason I can't use a Weber kettle as a fire pit as well as a BBQ? Probably using smokeless eco log things

Height is a good point.
It wasn't just for money, space as well, but there is no way I want to be cleaning it in between uses.

The space saving would be good but the rest of the hassle would definitely piss you off more over time. You can get some with foldable legs that store pretty neatly.

I got the Signals/Billows set up over the weekend. The hole in the Weber took a £30 Screwfix drill bit but it all went smoothly. The Thermoworks 1.18" adapter for the Billows fits nicely in the BBQ Guru universal adapter, a bit of info that I couldn't find for certain before I purchased. It held a 225 +/- 10 all day, through snow and sunshine.
My brisket from the local butcher wasn't quite what I expected, much wider and flatter, but it came out nice, and I finished the thin end in a maple syrup, butter, and sugar glaze.
