  • Corsa Control 2.0 with latex tubes. Fuck schwalbe.

  • Latex tubes for audax and training? Do I look like I give a fuck about finish times? Nice try Racey McRacington. What's wrong with Schwalbe? I ran their Durano variants for years with no issue.

  • I swear you put a whole thing about crr 8 posts back...

Latex tubes puncture less than butyl. Tubeless punctures least of all but if you wanna be stuck in the 90s, latex is still the best.

Schwalbe are shit. I've used g-ones, pro ones, some other races ones, racing ralph CX, hans damf, magic Mary and rock razors in the last few years and they have all been shit. Fragile, worn out punctury heaps of shit that dont even grip that well. I try a lot of different tyres but fuck schwalbe from now on.

  • Come on, dont sit on the fence. Are Schwalbe shite or no?

  • Yeah, tyres are one thing. I'm not putting latex tubes in unless it's a race.

As for tubeless, latex are faster and no one has convinced me tubeless works on the road anyway so I'll stick with the 90s vibe while you lot are wiping the jizz off your bikes.

I've used Racing Ralph for a whole 3hrs of MTB and all my other Schwalbe experience has been durable road tyres Durano and Durano Plus, oh and their tractor tyres (Marathon Plus) on the fixxieskidder for a million miles. There does seem to be a lot of people complaining about Schwalbe durability so it's easy enough to avoid them.

  • Clinchers and tubes ftw today at least.

  • Tubeless works on the road for me but only up to around 65psi in 28s so far. Got some Rapidair 26s which will probably see 80psi+ once the racing season starts, I'll have to report back on the jizz situation!

  • Everyone knows turbo cottons are the fastest. His legs probably helped!

  • Schwalbe are shit.

    Strongly disagree.

  • hippy just get marathons

  • Ive been using the Spesh Roubaix Pro on and off since they introduced this version in 2014 and they are the most reliable tyres Ive ever ridden whilst still rolling nicely.

  • I think you mentioned these the last time I was looking around for road tyre options a couple of years back. I think I'll end up grabbing a few options and trying them out. Because I'm riding a lot more dirt now I think whatever I'll end up getting will be lasting longer than previous tyres (DD turbo helps a bit too).

  • I just bought a pair of spesh roubaix pro 30/32 only to find that they're too wide (assume it means they're 30 until you fit them, whereby they become 32 in some mysterious manner that Schrödinger would appreciate)

Anyway, one is still packaged, the other has been mounted but taken straight off, so cant go back to the shop. Ping me if interested in them!

  • Not tubeless though ?

  • Question for me? Yes they’re tubeless (or 2bliss ) though the one I mounted went on easy enough with a tube onto a mavic a319 rim

  • Woops, edit
    Shan't perpetuate this further
    Apols

  • Thanks. I've found a couple of raced tyres that still have life left to give so I'll use those up first. I reckon Marathons on the grrl's bike though to slow her down a bit :)

  • So, whoever fitted the tyres to the grrl's road bike used latex tubes. No wonder she's so fast!

(they're definitely going on my wheels now)

  • I’m gunna buy some Schwalbe Racepac. Dirt cheap and get decent reviews on google. Any horror stories from users here, or alternatives in the same price bracket I should consider?

  • So just to summarise the past few pages, what were the @hippy approved non tubeless 32mm road tyres

  • Pay attention ! it was the ones in the back of the cupboard.

  • GP 4000, Pro 4 Endurance, Voyager Hyper Whatevers

But I'll let you know what I actually buy shortly. Roubaix and those Corsa Controls look promising.

  • I have Corsa Controls in 28’s, I’d describe them as robust and reassuring for winter/ cobbles/ bad surfaces.

  • UK roads are worse than Flanders cobbles so they'll probably be great.
