  • That Mitsubishi auction just went live: https://autoauction.co.uk

  • That red 3000GT is bringing back Gran Turismo memories. What a car!

  • On the three seats thing was admiring a pile of old Fiat Multiplas some bloke has in his yard in a village near here. Amazing to see the three adult seats up front. Rare to see one on the road these days.

And nice first motor @Tenderloin. Proper grown up stuff

  • More plates than cars . You got your eye on anything?

  • BMW query. My mate called yesterday and told me he was having issues with his car and may sell it. In conversation he mentioned that he has a BMW 535i twin turbo - I think he said it’s a 2006. Is this car worth taking time to sell to the ‘right buyer’ or just a normal trade in. I have a suspicion it may be worth more money than he thinks.

  • The bigger the car the more likely it is it will be posh and the back seat sculpted for two businessmen, and a hard unforgiving middle. I hired a Passat and 3 adults in the back were very cramped.

A 7 seater is the way to go.

  • I think time for Multiplas to be reappraised. I could never quite understand the hatred for them.

  • Good point.

    Thanks to everyone else too.

I was pretty confident I was right but just wanted some validation before arguing back against my OH and MiL.

  • Because they're odd, ugly, and functional.

That said, one of my petrolhead teachers always cited it as an eg of how the Italians could get away with style and design choices no one else could.

(this was before all those butt ugly 00's BMWs)

  • really enjoyed having a close look at the neglected collection I happened across the other day. so many neat design touches and overall futuristic look.

i have no need for one but would happily own the pre mid 2000s facelift one if I needed to carry more humans about. think they are going to be hard to find in good nick these days.

  • There's truth in that, I'm far more forgiving towards Fiat (and also French design) than to BMW, Audi, for example. Obviously the Multipla is jarring against other models of the time, but I just found it all the more interesting for that.

  • Cheers dude! Will be easier to pop up and see my mum back home now which is nice. Could pop by yours one time down the line on the way to see how that Air source pump is treating you !

Always loved multiplas - looked great to me at least and seemed super practical. In a world of lots of v similar looking suv styles would love something more intersting

  • yeah for sure dude. be great to show you around. though no work has begun just yet as still finalising build specs with architect. it's exciting times but slow progress. multipla paced I suppose.

  • Yes the face-lift Multipla was a real disappointment, that's a truly ugly car! Also in a similar vein, see Cactus mk1 >mk2, although not such a big gap.

  • Did anyone see the Sketch Monkey Multipla redesign?

  • Meant they became cheap quick and when things went wrong it was cheaper to buy a better one than repair the old one. Those that had them liked them as they were very well thought out.

Always liked this photo showing how much room was in the car

  • Can confirm that getting an adult between two isofix car seats in the back of Qashqai is not really feasible. Have managed it but only with small adult, and even then they're sort of wedged in at an angle and can't do up a seatbelt. Not recommended.

I'm still looking at Skoda Kodiaqs. Any reason I should look elsewhere for 2019, low mileage, 7 seats, 4WD, petrol and decent gadget spec for under £25k? https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202103190324837?drivetrain=Four%20Wheel%20Drive&model=KODIAQ&advertising-location=at_cars&onesearchad=New&onesearchad=Nearly%20New&onesearchad=Used&postcode=me138sd&fuel-type=Petrol&radius=60&minimum-seats=7&sort=relevance&price-to=25000&make=SKODA&year-from=2018&include-delivery-option=on&page=1

  • I would check out whatever the seat equivalent is - shared platforms (with VW too) and better driving/toys.

Edit: we have that exact engine (and probably gearbox) in our Leon and it’s excellent.

  • I really want this... Gonna have to learn to drive stick!

  • They are very cool, I saw one parked on the street in Dumbo a couple of years ago. Expensive now I think?

  • Retropower on YouTube have one in as a project car

  • I haven't looked at the price of them in a while, I found two Ute runners in QLD at $20k each which isn't super cheap but not crazy expensive either... Would love a short wheelbase jeep version (this one's $20k as well), there's a bloke round the corner with one and I've got a bit of a crush on it...

  • I believe @Hobo has one.

  • That's right, he does! I'd completely forgotten...

    Or a Mitsubishi J24, I'm not fussy...
