Just so there is no doubt, we're all agreed that no car has a middle seat that an adult can sit in for a decent journey when there are two massive Isofix child seats either side?

What about an intermediate SUV eg Qashqai?

You're welcome to try fitting two child seats into the back of my E Class, it's pretty roomy in there - but personally I don't think you'd have a hope of getting a normal sized adult in the back with those in there.

Pretty sure you’ll need a 7 seater, unless the adult is narrow or the child seats are.

For reference the xc60 has two isofix and you couldn’t sit in the middle at the same time

The bigger the car the more likely it is it will be posh and the back seat sculpted for two businessmen, and a hard unforgiving middle. I hired a Passat and 3 adults in the back were very cramped.

A 7 seater is the way to go.
