It didn't seem to affect his temp so I wonder if the fireboard fan works differently? The billows is so quiet the first few times I used it I had to keep touching the fan to check it was still spinning.
and we have a baby now
I have a 10 month old (plus another one coming in May) and it's not an issue, once you've got it all set up you only need to check the meat for basting/spritzing/wrapping etc, it's no more effort than checking an oven, I'm looking after the kiddo all day tomorrow and I plan on smoking some ribs for the evening. The temp is so stable on mine that for longer cooks like pork shoulder I can put it on before I go to bed.
I also keep thinking, when I see the price, that it's half way toward a KamodoJoe or something
I have the costco one, which is the same size as the Big Joe, that and the thermoworks was less than half the price of the big Joe, the big Joe is slightly nicer but it's mental money for no difference in cooking quality imo.
I think the best thing about the different fan controllers is that they work on so many different bbq's, so you just put it on what ever you get next.
And @aggi
Have you both seen this? Modding à kettle looks pretty straight forward from this vid.
