• I currently have a 13l seatpack (Alpkit Koala) which is fine for things like cycling to a friends and staying overnight (pre-Covid).

If I now want to camp overnight as well with a one man tent, sleeping bag, roll, (artificial) down jacket etc what other bags should I be looking? I guess a bar bag for the bag/roll/jacket? What else? It's been a while since I've been camping.

I'll be staying on camp sites and other places with facilities once restrictions allow, mostly during late spring/summer/early autumn and I'll be on a road bike.

  • As Hippy said, the size/compressability of your gear is a big factor in this, but a frame bag that doesn't limit your water carrying capacity too much would be my first stop.

Back before I had a bike with all the mounts, and gear that crammed down really small, I always ended up with a backpack/messenger bag on top of my frame and seat pack. Tent crammed into the seatpack, sleeping bag at the wide end. Poles, inflatable mat and riding layers in the framebag. Backpack for change of clothes and any extras. With non-flared 42cm bars my options for a bar bag were rather limited so I just ran a burrito bag for bits and bobs.
