Anyone had power2max Type-S meter light up when you put a battery in (so it's getting power) but do absofuckinglutely nothing when you try and pair it to a collection of Garmins and a Wahoo? Like the transmitter has died or something.
I ride this motherfucker across continents and then give it to the missus and it lasts about 2 hours. FFS

Tried doing the reverse polarity trick with the battery?
-

I put it in backwards just to make sure that the way I was putting it in was correct. Is there a duration of time it should be in backwards?

I don’t think so. Not sure what else to suggest really.

Anyone using Look Keo cleats with Powertap P1 pedals? Looks as though you can't get the Wellgo (or Powertap branded version) very easily now.

MTB power pedals from Garmin

Also there will be conversion kits to make your existing Vectors into Rally and to also swap the spindle between pedal bodies so you could have SPD-SL in summer and SPD in winter

yea the backward compatibility with vectors is nice. i am going to get a set of used vector 3s and buy the xc pedal body. perfect for the winter road/summer gravel bike.

I use Keo cleats with p1s, no issues for the past 18 months of doing so after going through multiple pairs on multiple shoes.

$1200?! You can get four Stages LHS cranks for that.
[Edit: also the MTB pedals are apparently 8mm thicker than Shimano. Which seems significant]

You could also get about 35 chocolate teapots. What's your point?

I'm comparing power meters on price.
Are you saying Stages or perhaps crank-based power meters are useless? In what way?
-
• #9914
testing in a paper and also in my own experience stages' unit to unit variance is substantial, worse than other brands. and at least in my case l/r balance varies according to a bunch of things and isn't consistent over time. makes the readings neither consistent nor accurate. how relevant that is i guess depends on how hard you stare at your numbers. i've been much happier with the garmin and quarq i have now (more with the latter).

Doubling one sided is inherently flawed.
-
• #9916
There's a fundamental issue with simply doubling a single side measurement, as has been pointed out, unless you're physiologically unique and can guarantee your L/R power output is equal at all intensities.
Quite apart from that, my experience and those of other people I know is that Stages PMs are pretty flakey. I know of at least a dozen that have had to be returned after warranty, and I know of quite a few people who've given up on them and moved to different setups. I had one. I gave it away to a friend.

This is interesting, good move from Garmin I think.

Favero Assioma also thought to be releasing an axle only PM unit that you can swap into a Shimano pedal you already own

Not had a power meter since an SRM on my track bike about 10 years ago, but decided to splurge on a Quarq for my new road bike (which is hopefully due in a couple of weeks!).
Gone with the dzero dub 110 5 bolt. Any tips / things to look out for? Chainring recommendations?
-
• #9921
Is it hidden bolt or not?
Praxis rings are decent. -

Thanks all. I suspect my shit-tier LHS powermeter is still sufficient for my actual needs... I have remembered mine is a 4iiii, not Stages though 🤷♂️
-
• #9923
Thanks, I'll take a look. Its a non hidden version

if i'm looking to buy a power meter this summer andI'm probably going to go Garmin pedal based as I run campag on summer bike. Should I look for a pair of reduced vectors or a pair of the rallys?

Already asked above
I recently ordered 165 dub crank quarq from sigma. I would recommend emailing them.
