  • England looked like they had only been told 15 minutes before that there was a game on. Zero plan, zero leadership. The whole team feels like a bunch of individual egos selected on, as @Markyboy says, past glories.

As bad as England were, I'm still really stoked with how Ireland played. They ground down and shut out every one of those egos. Even Farrell's bully boy hit ups and tackles were ineffectual and even landed him with a bump. There was a good amount of schadenfreude when he crocked himself on that one. And as soon as things don't go the way England want them to, they A) don't have the ability to adapt or implement plan b (see the Italian tackle only shit housery from a few years ago) or B) throw their toys out of the pram and spend the rest of the game and beyond in a toddler's huff (see medal awards at the World Cup).

Jones needs to go. He has done a lot of impressive stuff for both Japan and England, but he's a one trick pony and everyone else is now wise to that trick.

I'm also gutted that Stander is retiring but really happy for him he gets to go out on that win at the top of his game. Also great to see Ireland constantly drip feeding in more players and asking different things of the old guard. A slimmed down Stockdale shows that they are wise to these big, young, fast, bruisers of wingers having a limited shelf life. Players like Earls are going to be much more productive for much longer. The way their second rows and back rows are pretty interchangeable and really fucking good in either spot is also exciting.
