Today's double bill:
Possession by Neil LeBute (2002) followed by The French Lieutenant's Woman (1981).
Both with victorian / contemporary parallel narratives.
Jennifer Ehle looks so much like Meryl Streep.FLW is the superior film. Though in both cases the books they're based on are so much better (obv)

That’s terrible news, it really doesn’t need a remake
-
• #17584
Depends if it is a remake of the film or making the book into a film.
They are quite different stories. -
• #17585
the worry is always that the remake will include simon fucking pegg and no one needs that.

"In the company of men" is a tough watch but worth it.

The upcoming version is expected to stay more faithful to the source
material. The cast has not been set yet.https://variety.com/2021/film/news/edgar-wright-stephen-king-running-man-1234911516/
I started watching The Stand remake but it was a bit dull and not as good as the tv version with dodgy special effects.

Deffo. At points I was sitting there wondering (1) how bad is this going to get and (2) is this the greatest volume of tears Mrs. PNG has produced during a film (answer no: Grave of the Fireflies retains all time record).

predator is faultless
It really is, and the director following it up with Die Hard which is equally great.
Didn't know Jesse Ventura supports the US Green party!

Enjoyed Host, proper Saturday night horror.

Made the mistake of putting Skylines on Netflix last night, aliens and sci-fi and explosions are normally my thing, and there was the hope of some kind of nissan smashing things up. It was shit, thankfully I was a bit pissed and full of Chinese take away so slept through a fair chunk, my wife and mother assure me it isn't worth catching up on.

Sound of Metal with Riz Ahmed. Fantastic in every aspect. Riz is fast becoming my favourite actor.

Snyder cut Justice League is long.
Aspect ratio did not bother me, robot with a cartoon face did.
AquaLads weird contact lenses were a weird choice that that thankfully dropped for his standalone film. -
• #17596
Totally agree. Brilliant film, sound is incredible and his performance could carry any film.
Paul Raci also deserves a mention - what a film to do as someone who is culturally deaf and apparently his first significant role in 30+ years of film making

he used to email me his uk hip hop tracks to try and get them featured on my old website but the guy who helped me run it (who was the one with all the industry connections) was staunchly against including his stuff on the site. I always felt guilty about it as he seemed like a decent guy.
Feels super weird seeing him become such an accomplished globally renowned actor. he's in absolutely everything (and an amazing actor to boot).
Reminds me of how Dynamo used to just be a scrawny young hip hop fan who'd come down on the train from up north just so he could go to the Deal Real open mic nights/Kung Fu and would do random magic wagers/tricks for a few quid a pop to fund his night then a few years later I was seeing his face on promotional pepsi bottles at the supermarket.

he seemed like a decent guy
He was a mate of a mate back in the day, had to endure his company on a few occasions. Can confirm that he absolutely was not a decent guy. V weird him being all over everything now, as all I can think is “oh no, not that cunt again”.

• #17599
ha, fair enough, no need to feel as guilty then.

Ha, its always like that with actors. They seem really nice, you meet them. CUNTS.
Not many people know the actor who played the Predator was Denise Van Outen.
