  • I'm glad their employees were looked after, but it's not so good that companies with mega rich owners like that can make massive profits when things are going well, along with likely tax avoided pay, usually at the expense of underpaid workers or overexploited environments. Then when things take s downturn, rely on tax funded schemes to pay workers rather than do it from their own deep pockets, the scheme should really be for those who can't afford to take the hit. Obviously they'd just sack people as they're greedy arseholes, but it's not right.

  • I share the sentiment. But I don't really see how there's any objective way of distinguishing the 'good' employers from the 'bad' ones. Without putting the editor of the Guardian in charge, anyway. As I see it, it's more a symptom of underlying structural issues with the economy rather than a problem with the furlough scheme itself.
