  • Cheers.

Didn't think about Ali, unfortunately I don't know if I can rely on it arriving on time.

Do you usually have to start an app on your phone or something? Or will it record and sync?

  • It records and syncs with your phone , no need to have them in proximity all the time.

There is a QR code for the correct app to install, there are many many apps with the same or very similar names, you need to get the correct one, for all features, some of the others will work but not as well.

  • Thanks.

  • The Xiaomi mi band has historically alway been one of the better budget options, haven’t looked into it a while though.

  • Thanks that's helpful as it seems more on par with the Huawei Band 4 Pro / better than the Band 4.

  • Can I still use priced stamps to make up the cost of eg a 1st class letter?
I found some old unused stamps - 69p and 20p will cover a current 1st class letter (85p), does it cause any problems?

  • Tall stack stems and carbon steerer tubes. I saw VO don't recommend it. Any guesses as to what the issue might be with this combo?

    Edit: from VO...

The reason for not using a carbon steerer tube with the tall stack stem is a combination of the single pinch bolt at the base of the stem and the high amount of steerer tube inside the stem that could result in a crack in a carbon steerer tube due to the leverage placed upon it.

  • I would guess it is because the clamping part of that stem is likely going to be below the expander bung within the steerer tube. You can however get longer expander bungs which would solve this issue.

  • I received a letter stamped up like that a couple of weeks ago so it must be fine. You don’t see it very often these days!

  • I figured that might be the case. I've got a couple of those long expanders in the cellar so might just give it a go.

  • Thanks! I found an old 1st class picture stamp (steam trains series, 2010) so used that instead, seeing as it's for Important Documents, but I'll use the other stamps to send a letter to a friend :)

  • If, as we are told by the scientists, that the tectonic plates have been shifting around for hundreds of millions of years, then how come all the European countries have ended up next to each other?

  • Borders are made up...

  • The collies are going to be furious.

  • The borders might be made up but the land is real. Why isnt France in South America.

Look at Africa. Even more suspicious. Apart from Madagascar, 100% of African countries are next to each other.

  • all the European countries have ended up next to each other

    Apart from Greenland 🙂

  • how come all the European countries have ended up next to each other?

Serious answer1: it's only because of tectonic movement - Italy had to be repositioned to lie in the same region as the other Eurozone countries.

    1Not that serious, obvs.

  • not sure if srs

Ignoring countries because they have nothing to do with the land itself, at one stage all land on earth was probably stuck together in one mass. This broke up due to tectonic movements over millennia and have become positioned where they are today. The coast lines are not edges of anything, they are only where the land mass is high enough that it is above sea level.

  • See also Continental Drift and Plate Tectonics

  • Because of the rotation of the Earth's disk, centrifugal force pushes the continents (which float on the sea) inward towards the centre. With the help of aliens, early people had some ability to steer their continents through the construction of "sails" (the pyramids), so all the Africans decided to converge at one point of the disk, Europeans another, etc.

  • to the conspiracy thread!

  • millennia

A bit more than that. With the exception of India, the continents roamed by dinosaurs were laid out substantially as they are now.

  • Yes, wrong word used. Millions, not thousands I meant

  • Are there any decent cup and cone bottom brackets around? Have used UN55s for a while now, but on my commuter bike they only seem to last around 6 months before becoming unbearably creaky. I thought maybe the larger ball bearings in a cup and cone BB would fare slightly better.

  • What are you doing to the poor thing?
