And to what end is he doing this? Seems inept are going to let him ride mtb a bit? Olympics maybe?
-
• #31931
he said on the lanterne rouge pod he has a big block of MTB in his plan for around june/july

What descending well can do at MSR

Quinn Simmons will win this weekend.

Excellent autocorrect there.

White Saturday already?

If he does, Strade Bianche swaps with MSR as a monument this year

If Simmons and Moscon were sprinting for the line I would want Darth Vader to get past them, preferably on the right.

preferably on the right.
Simmons has that lane

Lockdown for roubaix possible .

for Paris, I get it. but that's not where they start. for the countryside, without spectators, not so much.

Inrg says pro sport can continue like the red zones for msr tomorrow. Game on

allez, fingers crossed! although French logic is somehow different, sometimes.

What I’m really wondering about MSR is whether the pure sprinters have a chance? What’s the ratio of breakaway/bunch finales?
Sam Bennett is looking really strong at the moment, and is climbing a lot better, judging by Paris-Nice. It'll be interesting to see Quickstep's tactics. Do they let Alaphillipe go with WVA and MVDP, or do they work to keep Bennett up there?
It's obvs going to be MVDP, however I'd love to see Bennett win.

He's said he wants to do Tokyo MTB if selected. TBH, I'm surprised that GB have qualified a male rider but who knows how it works...

Given Sagan just rocked up and rode it last time, I don’t think the entry criteria are particularly strict.
-

I am not sure they have. Highest placed British male in 2020 was 150th, in 2019 92nd and in 2018 73rd. Women are obviously a different story between Annie Last, Evie Richards and Isla Short.

They play both cards, so Alaphillipe goes with any attack on the Poggio, if it comes back then unleash Bennett (although I think he’ll be dropped on the Poggio, like last year).

and Ballerini

Yeah that's why I was surprised to see TP put it out there. Perhaps there's one of those funny olympic rules whereby a rider can do the MTB race if they are in the road squad or something.

Just checked the nation ranking and it's possible depending on the years they use for qualification that they'd sneak a spot. In some ways though, it'd be a bit crap that some poor bugger puts in the leg work and Pidcock takes the spot.
I hope the weather is shit.
{edit - looks disappointingly sunny, mild breeze, 12°}
